Were most atheists sexually molested as children?
What would drive them to turn away from Jesus?

[Were most atheists sexually molested as children?]
Why are you asking?
[What would drive them to turn away from Jesus?]
There are lots of different reasons why somebody would not accept Christianity.
For example: some Christians think that most Atheists were sexually molested as children.
Heh, it's already been deleted.
But just for the record: yes, Carol, some people could have been; but people are athiests for many different reasons, generally.
ETA : Wait, may be a troll. But my answer still stands.
Yeah, they say this about bi women and lesbians, too. Awful lot of sexual molestation going on there, according to these folks. Says more about them than it does about any of us.
@Orangutan
Come on, even Yahoo can spot Trolls
Don't be silly. Questions aren't deleted because Yahoo spots trolls, they're deleted because the Satanic administration is persecuting the True Christians (TM) by preventing them spreading their propaganda-disguised-as-questions!
"Were most atheists sexually molested as children?"
No.
"What would drive them to turn away from Jesus?"
What turned you away from Little Red Riding Hood and the 3 Little Pigs?
Well its simple. Tooth fairy, santa, easter bunny, imaginary friends, supernatural skywizards that watch you masturbate (hell we didn't even know what THAT was at that age)... most of us more or less stopped believing in those around the same time.
How you kept on believing in one of them is a sign of mental illness or stunted emotional growth, really...
Not to mention... when the gawds and religions you create for your games/campaign-settings make more sense and have JUST AS MUCH evidence backing them as those people here worship, its rather easy to see where the bullshit lies. That's why "AD&D is the devil" of course according to some.
I wasn't molested as a kid, but I DID have a lot of science books!
Were most atheists sexually molested as children?
No.
What would drive them to turn away from Jesus?
What would drive you to turn away from Thor?
Could it be, that you just don't believe in him?!
"What would drive them to turn away from Jesus? "
It is difficult to turn away from that which does not exist.
A better question would be, "What would drive them to turn to an imaginary friend?"
The answer: They're stupid.
"Were most atheists sexually molested as children?"
Yes, I remember when I was sexually molested by my pastor...wait I don't have a pastor! I get Christianity mixed up with Atheism.
"What would drive them to turn away from Jesus?"
LOL (Lack of Logic)
Were most atheists sexually molested as children?
Yes, by being told the Goat Sodomisers Guide to Brainwashing the Gullible (Bible to you) was a valid document.
What would drive them to turn away from Jesus?
Simple - the de facto "christians" constant bullshit.
No, I wasn't. The closest thing that could have happened was I MAY have been exposed to porn.
The Bible and the Church started to drive me away, the state of the world helped more (would God really let this shit happen?), and my science classes gave me the final nudge.
I don't know about most atheists, but I was not molested as a child, and I don't believe either of my parents were molested as children (yes, I'm a 2nd generation atheist).
Speaking entirely for myself....
1)No
2)Because he doesn't exist and I have better things to do with my life than make it an insufferable mistery waiting for something that will never happen.
And once again one has to ask, where is the fucking connection between homosexuality and atheism? The two are no more connected than a preference for red wine and a dislike of green socks.
A better, more pertinant question would be: Why are so many children sexually molested within the (no, not just Catholic, statistics show all)churchs?
Then your questions could be followups. I suspect some are Atheist due to the fact they realized how hypocritical and without grace or morals church leaders and flock were. Never having been indoctrinated or molested I wouldn't try to ballpark the number.
1. No. Why do so many fundies feel a visceral need to tie atheism to childhood trauma (generally sexual abuse)? Are they just projecting?
2. Speaking for myself, I never "turned away from Jesus" because I was never turned TOWARD him. I was not raised a Christian and never even considered accepting the validity of their beliefs.
> Were most atheists sexually molested as children?
Speaking as an atheist, NO.
> What would drive them to turn away from Jesus?
Waking up to reality.
I was a "Christian" until I watched a video about open-mindedness. It was only then that I considered the possibility that the Bible is fiction. And when I considered that possibility (took me a few weeks or months), I arrived at the conclusion that the Bible is indeed fiction. (Note: The man named Jesus probably existed, but everything else about him is debatable, such as whether or not he was executed for blasphemy, whether or not he was a carpenter, etc. But you can be sure he wasn't a god. Many people in the Bible [OT in particular] did not exist, however.)
Note: My reason for being an atheist has little to do with hypocrisy among Christians, since I was already aware of the said hypocrisy long before becoming an atheist.
I know I wasn't.
What drove me away from religion was learning "too much" about it, it made less sense the more I learned, to the point where it was too ridiculous and horrible to make any sense at all. I.e. Scripture and the "fan-clubs" drove me away.
“Were most atheists sexually molested as children?”
Why would your mind go there, huh? How’s that chain work.
“I don’t believe in your god.”
“Oh, went to kiss Grandpa good night and he stuck his tongue down your throat?”
“????”
“What would drive them to turn away from Jesus?”
Christain, actually.
“I have questions.”
“HOW DARE YOU!”
“It just doesn’t make sense to me that…”
“You were NEVER a real Christain, then!”
“Okay, but i still don’t understand…”
“Just ignore your questions and BELIEVE!”
“Yeah, I don’t need this shit.”
Confused?
