[Gallup survey : 21 percent of respondents who have up to a high school level of education believe in evolution, compared with 74 percent of those with postgraduate degrees.]
So, if you don't have a college degree, you don't believe in evolution.(I think)
But, if you do have a degree you do overwhelmingly believe in evolution. [facepalm smiley]
The blind leading the blind....
Oh Lord, the smarter we get the blinder we get. Down is up and up is down.

"The smarter we get the blinder we get." Yup the smarter we get the more we are able to understand and deal with the reality that human life evolved 'from goo to the zoo to you'
"Down is up and up is down."
Apparently you need to be able to do such Orwellian mental gymnastics to be a creationist.
Being a fundie is to have none, zero, zip critical reasoning skills and it causes one to become numerically illiterate.
Now we know why we had GWB for 8 years, it was because you fundies are stupid!!!!!
Do you wonder how many fundies think that a postgraduate degree means graduation from high school?
Now now, cut this fundie some slack. The vast majority of people, despite having the very simple ability to just memorize certain things and then build a career upon it, really are morons. He just got a little muddled up with that fact, bless him.
And douchebags are still douchebags.
Why do these people think they know more about science then the most eductated people in our society. I think this is the single most dangerous things about fundies.
"Oh Lord, the smarter we get the blinder we get. Down is up and up is down."
So ignorance is bliss? And I guess the History Channel was right about St.Peter then, he was crucified upside down to see the world as it is supposed to be, and not because of not being equal to Jesus.
It must be nice, being so intractably right about everything, never questioning yourself, you beliefs or behavior.
Sir, you are operating irresponsibly to your own development.
#962184: Regarding those maps... I find it more interesting that places like Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York are "more religious" on average than many of the Southern states, and that Florida, Indiana and West Virginia are relatively atheist.
And yet the former three generally vote blue, and the latter usually or always vote red.
Also, the first map is practically useless because it doesn't present data on any metropolitan region (the areas in white).
A more telling correlation would be found between maps showing percentage of college education and percentage of respondents who describe themselves as young Earth creationists.
/lots of people are religious out of cultural habit, but not retarded.
"the smarter we get the blinder we get. Down is up and up is down."
If one isn't smart, and one can't become smart, maybe the most attractive option left is to glorify stupidity.
@#962219: This is how to lie with maps. You may have seen others with income, crime, etc., that alter the groupings to show what they want- 2, 5, or 10 colors may give an entirely different picture, as will how they're grouped together statistically. The government doesn't keep records of religious membership in census data, so that is a poll done on a sample. How was it done? By church membership, or by asking, "Did you go to church this past weekend?" The two might give entirely different results. Heavily Catholic Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Jersey might have more attendance on Sunday morning, even if it's less in the regional cuture than Georgia or West Virginia.
exactly how is that the blind leading the blind.
Also, those who are uneducated are highly likely to be poor..so enjoy your poverty.
@Tolpuddle Martyr
"Only the Raptards could look at that very sobering piece of data and reach such an oh so wrong conclusion."
Well, there's no really good rebuttal at data like this. Fundies have to twist it into something else. I mean, you can't really say that people are ignorant when accepting the theory of evolution when data shows the opposite.
Wait, wouldn't....wouldn't you be blinder the dumber you are? Because you're more susceptible to myths about sky fairies and floods that never happened because you don't know any better?
Is that what you're saying? No? Oh well then you're an idiot.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
