I just had the person closest to me say that my interest in the rapture and end times is cult-like and that things are happening at the same rate as they always have (earthquakes, flooding, wild weather, fires, etc.). It hurt but I guess I am supposed to be happy when perscuted for Christ.

Natural disasters are that...Natural. It has nothing to do with the Rapture.
As I said, and mistyped, before...Rapture Ready must be a watering hole for loonies!
1. You're views are cultish, whether you like it or not. Obsession with the Rapture is what crazy people do, 'kay?
2. You think that's persecution? You sad, melodramatic little twit, get the Hell over it. That isn't persecution in the slightest. Persecution would be being beheaded or tortured for your faith, not someone disagreeing with your religious views. Stop whining about "persecution" when it isn't actually happening.
You seem to have a friend that still has one foot based in reality. I suggest you listen to them. You might disagree with them, but if you still have any doubt in your own mind, no matter how quiet it may now be, it's still within your interest to at least hear them out.
Seriously. Hear them out.

Good, I'm glad you have someone in your life that loves you enough to tell you when you have gone off the deep end. Realize it must have been hard for him or her to say this to you knowing it could hurt you and damage your relationship. Please take what they said to heart.
Also please note that you were not "perscuted for Christ" in any way.
Erm, hate to break it to you, but your friend is right.
Perhaps flooding and some odd weather might increase, what with the ice caps melting, but earthquakes? Fires ? No.
And you aren't friggin being persecuted! Your friend is probably worried about you - he thinks you're putting too much thought into something silly and potentially harmful, so he talks about it to you and tries to set you straight with facts! Remember facts? They're your friends.
"Um, dude, there haven't been any more major disasters, they're just getting a lot of TV time lately..."
"HELP HELP I'M BEING OPPRESSED"
"...wtf!?"
Hmm, interesting. But you're quite wrong. The actual, final end of the world is when our sun implodes in on itself in about a billion more years and wipes out the four inner planets. We may or not still be around then, but THAT'S the true end of the world. Okay? Okay! *thumbs up*
What??? You think you're being persecuted whenever someone expresses an outlook different than yours?
Gawd, what a whiny, pathetic bitch! The only solution is to get thee to a bunker and stay there in complete isolation and solitude waiting to be ruprtured. No contact with any other human being at all, or else you might get your widdle feelings hurt all over again.
You know what? Describe that horrible persecution to a Kurd, Armenian, very old Jew, Christian Pakistani or Kosovo-Albanian.
They'll smack you in the face and tell you what persecution really is.
"I guess I am supposed to be happy when perscuted for Christ."
And, pleased to be an idiot, proud to be ignorant and elated to be unable to think critically.
Later in the same thread on Rapture Ready -
Lazarus: "Dude, I have been quoted on the website, Fundies Say the Darndest Things, which is hellbent on laughing at and scoffing at end timers. I was quoted from something I said on this forum. They said hateful things about me."
Tygerkittn: "That counts as persecution, and you will be rewarded someday."
Pure comedy gold!
Yeah, truth is quite a hard battle to fight. Why don’t you just throw up the white flag already and join the winning team? Facts are not your enemy, but when you decide they are, you are merely battling reality and life. That’s a pretty tough way to go through life.
You answered your own question. You're not happy because you're not persecuted and because what they told you is a lie. Earthquakes, floodings and wild weather are natural phenomena. There has always been, there are and there will. And we're still waiting for the end of times.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
