Personally, I do not like ear-rings on guys at all. That has it roots in homosexuality and rebellion.
As for the rest of the piercings and body modifications (lips, noses, cheeks, and everything else), they are all symbolic of rebellion. I do not see anything wrong with a lady having pierced ears, and small ear rings, but beyond that anything else quickly becomes immodest.

Actually, where I come from the ear rings are indicative of the number of people you have killed in single combat and your property and standing in society.
Its an easy way to identify a person rather than decoration.
Doctor Whom, pay attention! Small earrings are okay according to Bro Randy, no matter what they're made of. Gold, pearls, foreskin - it's okay. On a woman. 'Tis all feminine and lovely.
From further up the same thread:
"And that raises the question, if we are ambassadors of Christ, is that an appropriate way to represent Him? Clearly, He should not be represented as a rebel. "
Huh? I thought Jesus was so rebellious they nailed him to a cross for spreading counter-cultural messages (and those are heavy duty piercings in themselves...)
Fisherman/Sailors in Holland tended to wear earrings so whomever found their body in case they had drowned would be able to pay for the funeral services ...
In such it was even based in christian faith as they believed that if you aren't buried in sacred ground you will go straight to hell.
ergo ... FAIL
Those darn youngens with their darn long hair, their darn earrings and their darn rockmusic.
Ladies and gentlemen I present to you Bro Randy, truly a bastion of stupidity, ignorrance and bigotry. Oh and he also seems to be stuck in either the fifties or the sixties.
I am a young lady with two piercings in each earlobe. Does that make me a rebellious dyke?
Frankly, I don't see a problem in piercing whatever you want (except the genitals--OW!!), just don't let it get infected, and stick to studs when you're on the job.
All rebellious types will burn! Them negros should have kept their mouths shut and known their place during the civil rights movement! Those Suffragettes should have gone back to the kitchen! And these gay rights fags should go back into the closet! We aren't living God's way unless everybody is being oppressed by everybody else!
The really scary thing is, if you said all that to Randy, he'd just stand there nodding and saying "Uh-huh, that's true. What's your point?"
I do not see anything wrong with a lady having pierced ears, and small ear rings...
What's the difference between a woman's earlobes and a man's earlobes?
As for the rest...they are all symbolic of rebellion.
1. Yeah?
2. And?
3. So?
4. What?
Let kids rebel a little. It's better for them to rebel with basically meaningless things like earrings when they're teenagers than to ride them hard and have them rebel much later with really harmful things like binge drinking when they're in their 20s and 30s.

FMG, are you from Heidleburg?
@aaa:
Actually, Bro Randy is married, (to a woman large enough to be three), and has two of the ugliest kids that you will ever see.
Is anyone able to post his family portrait?
Well since I live my life according to what Bro Randy thinks.
Seriously, Christ is nowhere near Christian enough for this asshole.
A church that was trying to reach out to the "young and hip" crowd had an ad that I think applies well in this situation. It showed a close-up drawing of Jesus' hand getting nailed to the cross, and the caption said something like, "We don't have a problem with body piercings."
Bro. Randy and his ilk are Pharisees of the worst sort; they care about appearances more than anything else. Hypocrites.
~David D.G.
I don't recall a verse about earrings. But while we're talking about what's in the bible and what's not, do you know what the bible specifically forbids, Bro Lardass?
Gluttony.
God wants you to put the 55 gallon drum of coke and 30 piece fried chicken special down, fatty.
So if a guy has an ear ring, he's gay?
Whats next, if a man wears a necklace he's gay?
That has it roots in homosexuality and rebellion.
They do not. They can be see as far back as ancient Egypt, women AND men displaying their wealth by wearing it as bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings.
My bet is you have been listening to your daddy prattle on about why YOU can't get your ears pierced and have bought into it.
First, "earrings" is a single word.
But that's really the only issue I have here. He's wrong about the homosexuality bits, of course, but I agree that piercings are a turn-off. That's just my opinion; don't worry about it.
I see nothing wrong with body mods, in fact on some girls I find them to be a turn on. (esp belly button, tongue). Also a guy having a pierced ear is not symbolic of rebellion nor homosexuality. Tattoos maybe symbolic of rebellion, but in my case I just think they look cool. I am still straight.
So everyone can only do that which you like? Fuck that.
If you don't like it, fine, don't do it. Just don't try to tell everyone else how they must behave. And don't use your dislikes to judge others.
Earrings probably have roots in riches and wanting to show off your riches.
Who are all these people rebelling against?
How is a pierced nose immodest?
Oh, it's Randy Bro; being born a woman is immodesty to him...
Confused?
