Wives ARE to submit to their husbands and be obedient them. Husbands are put in authority over their wives. In turn, the husband is to love the wife as Christ loves the Church. Of course husbands are not perfect and have their own flaws. A wife is supposed to be his help-meet, though and offer her own counsel in daily situations. It is not the wife's place to be the spiritual leader of the home, nor should the responsibility of providing for the household fall on her shoulders. Her congregation is her children and her pulpit the kitchen table. She should focus her preaching to the children, not her husband. All the time spent controlling him would be much better spent in prayer. I don't understand why so many women want to be so free of authority in their lives. If you have a problem with obeying your husband, than it's possible that your real beef is with God, since that is the way He designed it all to begin with.

Seriously? You don't understand? I mean, if you are being honest and can't understand why somebody would not want somebody else micromanaging their existence, well we can remedy your misunderstanding and bring you into an enlightened state (in regards to this, at least).
The solution is exposure: We send you into the arms of an Islamic Theocratic State where you will abide by their rules for, say, six months.
We can talk again when you come back and see if you "understand" yet why people might take umbrage to the iron fist of religious authority.
Uh, Kelly, sweety pie, there is no god.
And no man worth a shit would give you ten seconds of his time.
Yes, some slaves love servitude, other want to be free.
Yet, they should stay where they are, lest they disturb the peace of their more docile comrades.
My husband loves to me, is agnostic and respects my beliefs. Plus, I don't have to submit to him. Don't be surprised if you are going to be only 4% of adults in the future and see your "Christian country" not so in 2040.
Let's put it this way. Would your husband like a bossy being telling him what to do with no reason?..................and man, my husband, who's agnostic, respects my beliefs, loves me and, in turn treats me like his equal and helps me. Honestly, what are the advantages to be in your doormat like church?

I'll make you my slave for maybe 10 years, then maybe you'll understand. If not, I'll keep you for another 10.

Since the bible was written by men, it's easy to understand why they would have their god "design" it that way, isn't it?
I have a beef with religious, sexist, baloney that tries to oppress and pigeon-hole anyone. As do other people with common-sense...
Who the fuck aside from crazy fundamentalists uses the term 'help-meet,' anyway? WTF is that supposed to mean, exactly? Can't they just say 'helper' or, more accurately 'subordinate' or 'house elf' or something?
I think I hear a preachin' when I should be hearin' a sweepin', back to work woman.
Also "If You're Happy and You Know It, Clank Your Chains" Seconded
no my real beef is with misogynstic fuckwittery.
Your god is imaginary, therefore I don't have a beef with him.

Because the authortarian philosophy is a bunch of BULL SHIT. It doesn't matter if it's a man, woman, child or what ever. NO one should have to submit to anyone.
Another reason to hate fundamentalism.

It's generally known as the human spirit. Drag yourself away from that antiquated, barbaric book that demands authority over you for a while and you might even find out what it feels like.
Wait - <re-reads post> FUCK , this wasn't even written by a guy!
There is just a problem I don't understand. If that's the way God made us, why isn't it evident at all?, why do they have to act unnaturally?. And what problems do HUMAN BEINGS have with authority?. Nobody wants to bossed for no good reason. That's what we mean by "circular logic"
"flipper" (#349271) speaks the truth. Besides, if the logic were followed out thoroughly instead of only halfway, a helpmeet is not supposed to be subservient but to act as an alliance instead, like one of the partners in a business. And the rest of it sets up men to adore women so much they are willing to die for them, the way Jesus died for us (who accepted the New Covenant and believe that He is our Savior). I'm willing to wager real money that "kelly"'s significant other wouldn't even be willing to get his nose bloodied in a fight if it meant defending her.
Most men that I know want an equal wife; not some mindless doormat.
Oughtn't men also to be help-meets and offer their counsel in daily situations?
Spritual leader? Huh? To my knowledge, there are no spirits, so they don't need a leader, really.
Most families nowadays need two household providers to make ends meet.
Neither me nor my husband believes in deities, so we don't have a beef with any of them, nor with any hobbits either, come to that...
I wonder, if it´s so clear, why has God made women as intelligent as men?. Can´t you understand that it was an OPINION made by a man who lived in a concrete time at a concrete place and it´s not relevant any more?
Confused?
