"The violence in the bible is to show what not to do and in learning this, how to walk in the way of the lord. It isn't promoting violence, it is simply acknowledging the existence of it and then following up with showing the correct way to live"
Stoning someone to death because they picked up sticks on a certain day of the week is the correct thing to do... how? And how is doing the same thing on the other six days not considered a capital crime?
So why aren't you at your nearest Wal-Mart on a Saturday, with a truckload of rocks, ready to stone to death all those working on the Sabbath? It's your sacred duty to do so*. After all, it says in Matthew 5:18:
'For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.'
Oh yeah, that's right. You'd get shot by the police if you tried that. Keep picking those Biblical cherries, jinxa13. You obey what you want to, and not obey those that are too inconvenient, or could get you killed in the 21st Century. But by not obetying ALL the Bible - BOTH the OT & NT - you're going against Revelation 22:19:
'And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.'
See you in Hell, jinxa.
"read your books before quoting with your single viable brain cell!"
You clearly haven't read both the OT & NT. Otherwise you'd realise why the Bible should have a compulsory Govermnent Health Warning:

I have. Ergo, I'm an Atheist:
'Properly read, the Bible is the most potent force for Atheism ever conceived'
-Isaac Asimov
*- But doesn't that go against the 6th Commandment? Oh, but then God has committed murder. See the many occasions in the OT. Such is the hypocrisy of fundy Christianity. And you wonder why Atheism exists?
