If you think the current coalition has declared war on the haredim, you ain't seen nothing yet.
They want to dilute the laws of conversion.
They would rather that most Jews, who are not haredi, were still entitled to make aliyah. This involves resisting haredi attempts to make conversion even harder and turning Israel into a carbon copy of Iran.
They want to put an end to centuries-old traditional Torah education from the cheder to the yeshiva.
They're very happy for children to have a traditional Jewish education. But they also want them to be able to cope in the modern world.
They want to rob the Sabbath of its holiness.
How, exactly? And how is the holiness of the Sabbath maintained by stoning the cars of people who drive on that day?
They have systematically been trying to deligitimize the Haredi population and rob them of basic rights.
There are basic rights afforded all citizens. There is no basic right to live ignoring, contemptuous, and at the expense of, others.
In measure-for-measure fashion, is it any wonder that the Arabs are uprising against the government?
I'll give you a clue: the Arabs are not discontented because of the way haredim are treated. You aren't the only people in Israel.
Have they looked in the mirror?
They don't hate Jews; they don't even hate you. They are exasperated with people who don't have the most basic derech eretz towards others.
The fact that we do serve in the army and do pay taxes
The numbers who serve an abbreviated spell in the army are tiny compared to the numbers who get constant postponements by attending yeshivot. As for taxes, the huge number of unemployed, including those yeshiva students, means that a great many are not paying tax while they live of the work of others. All in all, "we" is a highly selective group of people in this context.
Hashem has the government's hands full now with a war against mushrooming terror all over the country.
Your concern for Israel would be a bit more touching if you actually recognized the country's existence and recognized that without secular and moderate religious Israelis, you would likely be dead; and if not dead, then at the very least having to work for a living. Instead, you do your utmost to hold the country up to the contempt of the rest of the world.
Finally, you pour contempt on and rejoice in the misfortune of other Jews, not just the government, but "the masses," however innocent they may be. So what kind of Jew are you? One like Israel Shamir or Gilad Atzmon.
