I would like to ask a question if I may? Is any bathing suit appropriate? I have not been able to wear one for 28 years. (ever since I have been saved) I am alone in this but I honestly don't understand why it is permissible to wear something that just barely covers part of our body and I cannot imagine wearing it in front of the opposite sex. Because cultures and society changes does this mean that we can??

Yeah, okay... we're all born naked, like any other animal. It's our own socially constructed shame and inability to adapt to certain climates, that forces us to wear clothes. Our natural state IS naked. Clothes are in a sense unnatural. You've been molded in the image of God, if you're Christian, right? So why cover it up? ;) Maybe it's unChristian not to be nudist.
*roflmao*
Nah I don't mean that, the last thing we need is for all the carb-binging, booze-swilling, bloated, puffy, pale, saggy douchebags that are already obnoxiously religious and pushy to be nudists as well.
Perhaps it is all for the best.
Burkas might work for you, Blessed Beyond Belief.
Transcript of a recording taken in God's workshop on the day he created Adam and Eve:
"Holy crap, this is disgusting... these human bodies are the most offensive thing i've ever created.... Oh no... now I have to put the boobies on... i've been trying to put off doing this this... [sound of machinery] ew, ew, ew, ew, ew! I swear to Me, if these mortals don't keep these repulsive bodies covered up as much as possible, i'm sending them to Hell. Eugh, that's all I can stand for now. I'll need to get a few stiff drinks in me before I can finish off the genitalia."
Sorry, Bathing suits are not permitted.
Heaven has a strict dress code, men must wear bathing trunks out of fig leaves, women Bikinis of the same material.
You might also choose to go naked, however ;)
To answer your questions:
No.
You're right, it should not be permissible to wear something that just barely covers parts of our bodies.
No.
Is any bathing suit appropriate? I have not been able to wear one for 28 years. (ever since I have been saved)
Let's do the math here. "Saved" for 28 years, Average age of conversion: 16. Estimated age: 44
Estimated figure of fundy RR poster: Not good
So, I suggest, for all our eyes and to prevent frightening small children, DO NOT WEAR A SWIMSUIT!
I wonder what clothes BBB was wearing when he/she was born?
I suppose it would be possible, using the right beach, to take a swim nude. I always do. There is nothing prurient about it whatsoever. Nobody is trying to hide anything, and nobody is forced to be there. In fact, bathing naked, among a lot of other naked people, is the most unerotic experience. It is, however, a very liberating experience.
In the case of this particular submission, I wonder does 'saved' mean rescued?
Hmm... Depends how fat you are. If you are in the 300lb range, then I would say, no, a bathing suit is not appropriate.
It's our own socially constructed shame and inability to adapt to certain climates, that forces us to wear clothes.
And pockets. I couldn't live without lots of those to put useful things in.
The answer to your question is, yes, when cultural and societal mores change, feel free to change yourself so you're happier. That's more the meaning of life, in my mind. Be happy with who you are, be happy with the life you're currently living, don't be too preoccupied with the Grand Spook. Life's a lot easier that way.
Because everyone knows that God said in Exodus 16:32"And if thou wearith a baithing suit, thou shall be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity. For showing your body is an abomination."
Cosmic Muffin-Unless your beautiful. Then its okay.
Fek'lhr when my father was stationed in Germany he took my brothers and I to a pool, I was 7. I was shocked but my brothers figured he was the best dad ever, he did tell me I didn't have to wear my top though.
Bodies are disgusting and evil, although when it comes to gay sex, they are perfectly designed and we must not tamper with perfection.
"I cannot imagine wearing it in front of the opposite sex"
Hehe, you can't imagine it, or feel sinfully warm all over when you do?
That username is weird. It vaguely sounds like some sexual experience.
Then just don't go swimming, RepressedBeyondBelief. Sit there, poolside, reading your bible while normal enjoy themselves.
It"s perfectly acceptable to wear a swimsuit, so long as it comes down to your wrists, and covers at least to your ankles. Also, it should have a skirt over the leggings so that men can"t see the evil outline of your legs. And a wide-brimmed hat. Now knock yourself out.
I've found a lot of bathing suits that cover your boobs and your butt, even for plus sizes, that my fundie parents whole-heartedly approve of (I was a little more prudish than them about it, actually) so...what's the problem?
God: Well, I see here you accepted Jesus as your personal savior ... you believed in the Bible ... you hated homosexuals ... you voted for Republicans ... hmmm ... looks good ... looks good ... uh oh - you went swimming in a bathing suit ! Sorry, it's the Lake o' Fire® for you, you slut!
@clockworkgirl21
Because women have no idea men have penises, and men don't know what vaginas are?
I wouldn´t be so sure when it comes to homeschooled christian fundamentalists.
I heard about a christian fundamentalist couple
who wanted to have children but didn´t succeed in it. So they went to marriage counseling to fnd out about the reasons. Well, it turned out that they never had sex. Obviously their parents didn´t tell them what you could do with the body of the opposite gender and neither did they find out about this "little secret" by experimentation nor did any of their friends tell them about it.
Obviously they thought, if they were married, little children would appear automatically, without any corporeal interaction by the couple.
Oh and this case didn´t happen hundred years ago, but only a few years, maybe 2004/2005, the couple we talk about was between 20 and 30 years old and it took place in america or an european country (not sure which).
So, obviously even in the western world it is possible to shield children from even the most basic knowledge about sexuality, if the parents intend to do so ;)

It was supposedly a German couple, but the story looks like something a tabloid made up.
But yeah, people seriously need to quit freaking out over body parts. It's just plain silly and immature.
This doesn't really address the questsion, but what the hell: I know it's not written that Jeebus was a swimmer, but he did get dipped in the Jordan at least once. And I'm pretty sure he weren't wearing no knickers beneath his filmy linen peasant's robe. Let's just say that when John the Baptist pulled him out of the water, you could tell teh Jeez was Jewish.
*wink, wink. nudge, nudge*
Those who got a gander at that probably thought they were blessed beyond belief too. But this is mere speculation.
"Because cultures and society changes does this mean that we can?? "
Yes, actually. A religion that doesn't evolve to meet changing social conditions is a dead religion.
I wish I remembered his name, but there was a Southern comic years ago:
"Naked. N-A-K-E-D. Means you ain't got no clothes on. Nekkid. N-E-K-K-I-D. Means you don't got no clothes on, and you're up to something!"
When I worked in a grocery store, the movie theater in the shopping center had been turned into a Fundy Brainwashing Center. When I'd work Sundays, I'd see these people getting out of church and coming in to shop. I can honestly say I don't want to see any of them in bathing suits. The fundies were second only to the Denver Donkeys maniacs for reasons I started refusing to work Sundays.
Shipwreck/Bazooka 2008. Because they can't be any worse than whatever we're eventually gonna get.
Well, if bathing suit makes you uncomfortable, feel free to bath without it.
Especially if I'm around.
Aren't you all going to be naked after the rapture? If God doesn't mind you being naked in heaven why would he care if you were naked in Earth?
Oh wait I forgot. I'm talking to people who make no logical sense.
Well, if conventions are so important for you, why not wearing tunics, like in Jesus times?. Or fur and skins and keep on living in caverns?
You need to meet David J. Stewart, He agrees you women should cover up and be much more modest and silent as possible too. I'm sure he'd help you see Gods way for you, especially if you have an underaged daughter around.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
