[On the removal of Confederate statues]
I hope they tell the folks in New Orleans that all of these monuments honor Democrats, and that the Confederacy was led solely by Southern leaders of the Democrat Party. In a Democrat city like New Orleans, I can’t understand why Democrat leaders want old venerated Democrat heroes taken down!

It says a lot about you that you apparently find 'Democrats don't automatically support anything another Democrat did at any point in time' to be incomprehensible and alien. By this logic, if you work at, say, a school, and I find evidence that the principal's predecessor's predecessor was a racist, that means you must be one as well.
David Barton, who apparently slept through the realignment of the political parties in his youth, deigns to educate us on history. No thanks.
It's David Barton. Every time he talks about history, he's wrong. At this point, his only actual job is to create the new Alt-History for the Dominionists; you know, the one in which the US was founded as a Christian country, has always been a Christian country, and has been at war with the evil "leftists" who are responsible for every evil thing that has been done in US history out of anger because they're jealous of how wonderful the Christian US is... and then they used the evil concept of "Civil Rights" to force the greatness of Christianity out of the US government, and that's why the US is in a death spiral that can only be reversed if the Dominionists, who claim to be the inheritors of the intentions of the Founding Fathers, seize control and once again force Christianity upon all the citizens of the United States...

Look up the difference between the Democrat party and the Democratic party. You're in the first one, The statue removers are in the second one.
Yet another idiot who doesn't realize that Democrats and Republicans changed places about 50-60 years ago and almost all racists are now Republicans.
At any rate, they never should have erected statues to honor traitors.
@Canadiest
Actually they didn't switch. Up until fairly recently there were conservative, moderate and liberal wings in both parties. The current Republicans are almost all conservative and Democrats are almost all more liberal is a fairly recent development (within the last 40 years or so).
What happened is the parties consolidated as liberal Republicans were driven out of the GOP and most conservative Democrats became Republicans.
“I hope they tell the folks in New Orleans that all of these monuments honor Democrats,”
There are people alive TODAY who dealt with Southern Democrats when they tried to register to vote.
“and that the Confederacy was led solely by Southern leaders of the Democrat Party.”
Um… I don’t think anyone is tearing down any statue in the belief they voted Republican. It’s that whole ‘treason committed to preserve slavery’ thing that they don’t think should be honored.
"In a Democrat city like New Orleans, I can’t understand why Democrat leaders want old venerated Democrat heroes taken down!”
Heroes to what, that’s the question.
And we’re back to treason and slavery.
And most of these statues went up in the 50s and 60s, as a response to civil rights. Whatever teh letter after their names, they still fought to preserve enslavement.
Fuck ’em.
Then again, maybe we should stop correcting these fucking imbeciles on this matter.
Yes, we should say, they’re our heritage, we’re ashamed of them, and WE WILL TAKE THEM DOWN.
Stop intereffing with how we deal with our heritage.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
