One of my children's pediatricians is a lovely muslim woman. Not only is she a wonderful doctor who has taken excellent care of my children, she is a very nice person with a very gentle demeanor. My children and I like her a lot.

Now, I think I could possibly have the right to rant like this because in our complex we have a ton of "fresh off the boat" muslims - the women drive my roommate crazy because they stand aside for him and get confused and scared if he holds the door open for them. (No matter how many bags they are carrying.) Myself on the other hand, get harassed and yelled at by the boys and get very scary looks from the men. (I don't walk alone at night anymore, which is weird for me, but it just isn't worth it.)
HOWEVER. I don't think that all muslims are nutters just because the ones around here haven't quite gotten the whole American thing yet. I'd love to be far away from here and I am now programmed to be leery of muslim men, but I'm not going to hold it against every muslim man I ever meet. Sheesh.

This part is my absolute favorite. Because, as we all know, hand-shaking is the vast majority of what doctors do. Clearly, refusal to shake people's hands leads to an inability to diagnose illnesses, prescribe medications, or even handle a stethoscope.
Then do us ALL a fucking favor, just keep yourself and your kids away from those locations.

I'm not sure how this is even relevant. I can't recall the last time I shook hands with a doctor, and it's unfortunately not because I can't remember the last time I went to a doctor.

Where I work we say this about the crazy, creepy and untrustworthy people, who have already proven they are crazy, creepy, and/or untrustworthy. A Muslim person is not automatically creepy, crazy or untrustworthy. You'd probably be surprised at how many Muslims you run across from day to day. I bet none of them have threatened you with bombs. In fact I bet they want nothing to do with bombs and killing people, they just want to live their lives and follow the religion they choose in peace. But then you're the kind that nothing would convince. You'd just turn on all the nice people you know when you found out.

Most of the Muslims that are in the US, has actively choosen NOT to live in a Shaira country, but in a more secular country, where they can practice their religion in peace, without government involvement.
Has this Muslim doctor attacked anyone? Has he or she bombed several countries back to the stone age? (Oh no, sorry, that was the US...) No, don't think so. Has he or she saved several americans' lives? Yes, probably, at least made the lives better for them. So, his or her "track reckord" is beneficial to the US.
It would actually be good for doctors to not have to shake hands, as patients' hands are rather filthy, and will make the doctor have to wash his or hers more often. Puting the hands togheter in a prayer-like position and bowing slightly is much better, from the hygienic point.
I have several Muslim friends, and they are all pacifistic, soft-spoken, considerate people. It sounds like LisaJo is more likely to raise a weapon, than any of my friends.

1. Not all Muslims are terrorists. In fact, a good majority tend to be substantially more mentally stable than the majority of regulars who post at RR.
2. If someone said the same thing about Christians (you know, with their track record of bombing gay nightclubs, breaking into privately held pride events and Pagan conventions to condemn people, shooting abortion doctors, etc.) it would be "persecution".
3. How can a Muslim be a doctor? The same way a Christian, Jew or Atheist would - by going to med school, you dipshit.

My college is 30% muslim and the entire muslim community of my town (Luton, England) preaches nothing but love and peace. I myself and a christian and some of my best friends are muslim.
Besides, you americans have a very limited and recent experience of terrorism. You can't use "terrorist" and "muslim" as interchangable terms. My Father's friend for example, was killed by an IRA car bomb in the 70's. White supremicists and nationalists are by far the most violent parties in my experience.
She'd shit herself here. I can think of two hospitals that I know for a fact have Muslims in charge of nuclear medications. Guess they're building a bomb in their spare time.
