This is because they tolerate people who disagree with them, its part of their belief that many will; and similalrly they also accept that oether people have ideas ooposed to theirs. Liberals tend not to be able to tolerate some fundamentalists' ideas becuase liberals find them too offensive bigoted and prejudice. (Examples would be the issues of homosexual practice, hell/eternal death, universal salvation)
