on sanduskys wife turning a blind eye to her husband molesting children
A spouse cannot be compelled to testify against a spouse for a reason. They're a single unit in the eyes of the law, as well as emotionally (for many/most couples). And come on, they are both old as fuck. It's way less upsetting to think that your husband was pilloried unfairly in court than it is to accept that you are married to a child molester--even if that does mean calling dozens of victims liars. It's easy to talk tough online. But I'm not even married yet, and I can't say I would likely do anything differently in her position.

You actually don't get a free pass to cover for your husband's crimes when called as a witness, there are conditions that effectively make it a weak legal strategy. If you want to commit perjury to protect a child molester, you deserve to be locked up as well. And to deny that they're even doing it to yourself just makes you a fool.
Yes, she likely turned a blind eye toward what her husband was doing because she didn't want to admit to herself that she was married to a molester, but that doesn't help his victims one bit. If she knew what he was doing she should be in jail too.
Look at the legal “experts” on here with their superior knowledge of the law. Haha. Well, guess what geniuses, spouses can invoke their spousal privilege while testifying. It isn’t “obstruction of justice.”
But I guess knowing the real law is “fundie” eh?
People can be arrested for Obstructing Justice.
Is some... thing going to 'defend' them...?!
Gary Glitter had a lawyer. Gee, that worked out so well for him, eh...?! [/Operation Yewtree]
Seriously, Anon-e-moose, Lawyer, lay off on each other. Especially you, moose, since you're asserting legal knowledge without even pretending to be a lawyer. Not that I necessarily trust someone who's proof of being a lawyer consists of wearing a name badge "Hello, my name is Lawyer ".
Because, let's be honest, for the purposes of this site, it doesn't actually matter if Mrs. Sanduskys is legally obligated to testify against her husband or not. Hiding a child molester is ethically wrong, and sticking up for her requires an extremely myopic view of the marriage covenant.
This has a couple of points I can almost sympathise with, but the whole "defending a child molester" thing throws it all out the window.

The wannabe "Lawyer" obviously isn't a real attorney, judging from his incredibly childish behaviour & rather unproductive trolling on a somewhat obscure website. A real attorney would have actual things to do with their time.
I'd know, having worked with a few.
I'm not a single unity with my husband. We are two individuals, with different feelings and ideals.
When do you become "old as fuck"? Is that when you start f**king each other?
According to Wikipedia, the allegations reach back to 1994. Sandusky was 50 then; is that "old as fuck"?
If so, hubby will be "old as fuck" in little over a month...
She might have justified her own inaction by turning a blind eye, not seeing anything at all...
He might have been abusive towards her too, threatening her with dire retribution if she reported it to anyone.
I am married, and I think it highly unlikely that my husband would be guilty of something this heinous.
In that strange scenario, even if I could not bring myself to report it, I would not be able to continue living with a horrible person like that.
Confused?
