[supersport's theory on why the majority of scientists believe global warming is a threat]
oh yea...I've often wondered if that's one of the reasons science is deathly afraid of global warming. Can you imagine if civilizations were unearthed under what used to be ice in antarctica?

Okay, let's approach this logically. First...,
Oh never mind, it's supersport, he can't even spell 'logic'.
What? What's under Antartica? Oh....oh shit! I know what means!

Elder Things! Lovecraft was right! The Mountains of Madness do exist, and if the melting ice reawakens the Elder Things then they are probably going to reclaim the planet. Thanks supersport, we should do anything and everything to prevent the ice caps from melting.
"Can you imagine if civilizations were unearthed under what used to be ice in antarctica?"
Yes...that would be the only reason for us to possibly be concerned about ANTARCTICA MELTING AWAY! I mean...it would be the first thing I would be worrying about, at least....
@Osiris: Damn...I was actually going to mention something about Lovecraft, but looks like I didn't need to! Well, at least I know that my guess of this whole thing being pertinent to "At the Mountains of Madness" was correct...
"I've often wondered if that's one of the reasons science is deathly afraid of global warming "
No, science is 'deathly' (literally) afraid of global warming because it may make the earth uninhabitable, which will cause death.
I'm sure even scientists (well, most of them) would rather stay alive than be right.
Let me get this straight. Scientists are worried about whether global warming is occurring, because they are afraid that we will consequently discover / unearth civilizations (of mole-men?) once the antarctic ice melts?
A new low, even for this half-wit.
Personally, If the melting ice didn't kill us all, I think the scientists would have a ball with an unearthed, ancient civilization.
When I was reading this I was thinking of the movie Aliens Vs Predator.
Has someone watched "Alien VS Predator" one time too many? Or maybe read "At the Mountains of Madness"?
There *is* no civilisation under the ice, you nitwit.
Edit Seems many intelligent people who aren't members of the fundie death cult had the same idea!
If that highly unlikely event happened, I think scientists (especially archaeologists) would be overjoyed because of the new opportunities to explore - that is if we didn't all drown first.
Stuporspurt proves once again that he has no idea what science is.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
