So why do Christians want to set up a theocracy then? By your logic that would prevent them from being True (TM) Christians. In fact, you should be doing the exact OPPOSITE of what Christians are doing now: elect only anti-theists to public office, claim that the Constitution doesn't protect Christians, declare that the US is and has always been an anti-Christian nation, campaign against teaching creationism even in church, demand that every other religion get preferential treatment in employment and schooling, and start complaining about Christian billboards and advertisements. You want to be persecuted? As the saying goes: "if you want something done right, you've gotta do it yourself".

Have you clamoured for a genocide to be enacted somewhere this week? Have you bayed for the cessation of education? Have you screeched uncontrollably for the public lynching of homosexuals this month? When will you lament the illegality of slavery? Have you declared your support of murder today? Have you persecuted those who don't agree with you yet? Have you consciously spread your daily dose of lies and indulged in the preaching of delusional silliness yet?

If you can't honestly say that you've performed most of the above, then you most definitely are not a Christian.

Remember, the church relies on your ignorance and stupidity for its income. Keep up the bad work!

Here I thought being Christian was supposed to be about being in a good relationship with God. Turns out it's actually defined by being in a terrible relationship with every other living thing on the planet.

I'm not biased against Christians, I'm biased against idiots with an unjustified sense of superiority. You fit that description rather well. You stand in judgement of others and are shocked that it comes full circle. You want your faith to take the hit so your personal pride does not.

Refusing to acknowledge your 'truth' as the only truth is not persecution. Forbidding you from presenting your 'truth' in a mandatory fashion is not persecution. Forcing a single 'truth' to be accepted and written into law on pain of punishment and declaring any other path heresy: burning scripture so it may never taught and holy sites so they may never be worshipped, declaring practitioners of a differing religion enemies of the faith, THAT is persecution.

There are myriad Truths. Your empty whining does not number among them.

Do you appreciate the huge effort and the sheer volume of work that the small non-Christian minority has to get through every day in order to keep the massive majority of Christians happily persecuted? Don't you think some kind of recompense should be considered for this necessary work?

It's as though Christians are quite happy to casually breeze through each day blissfully unaware of the incredible lengths the small hard-working minority of dedicated non-Christian percescutionists go to, just to maintain Christian histrionics levels. I think there's going to be a backlash soon, a sort of unpopular popular uprising. then what will you do?

You'll have to persecute each other or even self-persecute. See how you like that, then. There'll be less time for persecuting people you don't like.

Not happy with the trifling amount of persecution you're getting? Feeling down about your trouble-free and pleasant existence? Too comfortable and too well fed? You'd prefer living conditions to be slightly more like dying conditions? Modernity is not 'dark ages' enough for you? You're current circumstances could do with being more hell-like? You intensely dislike the fact that someone somewhere is enjoying sex?

If you are suffering any of the above gloomy maladies then try the following:-

1) Offer passers-by a selection of whips and get them to flagellate your naked flesh, you'll offer suitable recompense, of course.
2) At a building site, wolf-whistle at the workers and compliment them on their enticing muscular structure.
3) Demand strangers hand over 10% of everything in their wallet for you to give to your pastor for his new Rolls Royce.
4) Seek out Muslims and offer to sketch them a portrait of Mohamed.
5) Invite yourself to an orgy and suffer a seeming eternity of the enjoyment of others all around while you tremble and froth like a puritan fart.

On reflection, this attitude not-being-persecuted is one of disrespect for the freedoms that are guaranteed to all citizens in the US. They make it sound like repression.

Is there just possibly a case for giving them what they seem to want?

Maybe some kind Satanists or Atheists would tickle some of their pastors until they pissed themselves laughing - the pastors, I mean. That would really test their faith. I means Christians shouldn't really laugh. Or some belly-dancers would perform outside their churches on Sundays when the Christian congregations are arriving to hear their pastors screeching with maniacal howls of laughter....

...Oh never mind. They would still find something to moan about.

Hmmmm, we Atheists must be doing it wrong somehow. The Christians who are commenters here in FSTDT have never been 'Persecuted' by us. Must be something to do with the fact that they are secure in their beliefs.

Along with the Quakers, Amish/Mennonites, Unitarian Universalists etc. Oh, how terrible it must be for them, not being called names, belittled, marginalised, or characterised in any way, shape or form?! How can they possibly cope with their lives being happy and content?! Not being bothered by anyone - because they themselves don't bother anyone; tolerated, because they themselves are hyper-tolerant.
