"Don't gift me this crap about Church and State."
Actually, and speaking as a Brit, the American constitution is pretty f**king cool!
Okay, the 18th amendment (prohibition) sucked big ass, but that only serves as an example of what happens when religiously motivated groups try to interfere in people's private lives. Fortunately, it's damage was quickly undone by the 21st amendment.
About the only bit I would take issue with is the 2nd. I don't really buy that having a lot of guns about the place makes you, your fellow Americans or your country very much safer, whether from external, internal or individual threats.
That said, the 2A is scrupulously egalitarian. I could, of course, keep and bear arms myself, so while my absolute risk might increase, my relative risk (wrt other people) would not.
American fundies are some of the biggest abusers or decriers of their constitution it has been my displeasure to read (right up there with white supremacists), and their only interest in it seems to be to garner rights for themselves, never rights for all. They are blatantly after a relative advantage, and every one of their issues with the constitution boils down to their not getting the preferential treatment they desire.
I find it very ironic when a fundie claims America is a 'Christian nation', since they are some of the most anti-American (in spirit) people I know.
