If we're all sinners, but He only chooses to kill some of us, either arbitrarily or based on some hidden criteria only He understands, how does that differ from arbitrary killing?

If your omnipotent god wanted to he could make sure all babies that are aborted survive it (and occassionally there are botched abortions where babies survive, but don't get excited that doesn't mean goddidit) so really "God" choose for those babies to be killed. That means all the aborted fetuses are evil and you have to accept abortion.
