Joss Whedon, the director of the blockbuster comic book movie, The Avengers, revealed the extreme extent of his left-wing politics in a Wednesday post on Twitter. After asserting that "the climate IS changing - if we can't, that makes us dumber than weather #ClimateChangeIsReal," Whedon called for spiteful and heavy-handed measures against his ideological opponents on that issue: "Policy makers who deny basic scientific truth should also be denied penicillin, horseless carriages, air time on the magic box of shadows".
As you might expect, the reaction from some conservatives on Twitter was swift:
Back in 2012, Whedon inserted an abortion story line into a comic book based on his Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series, and decried how "a woman’s right to choose is under attack as much as it’s ever been, and that’s a terrible and dangerous thing for this country."

Lets cover all the science and medicine denying cretins and I`m all on board!
Don`t like the marriage equality laws? Don`t get the licence, your pastors blessings should be more than enough, as per your gods decree.
You happen to be a radfem with a vaginal infection? No gynecologist for you sweetey, pray to the goddes to restore your purity.
An MRA who believes all females are subhuman vile creatures and must be avoided? Lets rejoice with the boys and lets make it official with the formal document denying those pesky women the right to approach within 10 meters of you.
Don`t believe in vaccinations? All right, but since you want to waste our resources later on expensive treatments that you won`t be grateful for anyway, lets just cut it all and specificaly cut you off from any and all medical services perfomed by licenced profesionals.
All in all, I`d love the view

IOW he said things that are true.
Just a few notes for Skide- Overall, amusing, but vanishingly few radfems are pagan or hold any metaphysical concept of "purity." Plenty of gynaecologists are women, at least where I live.
Oh, and "let's," the contraction of "let us," has an apostrophe. "Lets" means "allows."
Ehh, only part that's arguably bad here is him theoretically asking for measures against those who disagree with him, if he goes any besides the old "don't like science? Don't use science then." hyperbole.
There's more than enough Joss Whedon being unreasonably crazy around the net to actually get mocked here, but this is not it.
@nazani14
Didn`t see that one, thx for heads up :)
Also my text was more in the vein of them ignoring modern medicine cause it confilcts with their ideology, not just assuming the gyn in question would be a guy.
He's absolutely right on both counts. If you want to pretend like we can keep sucking up natural resources indefinitely and that a woman's right to bodily autonomy is bunk, go right ahead.
Just don't expect to drag people who actually understand science and basic humanity down with you. If we need you, we know where to look. The bloody knuckle marks on the ground give you away every time.
...so you're jelly at the fact that "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" was shown here in the UK first before general release in the US? And it's taken £18 million, barely a week into it's release here ?
Because that's what it sounds like to me; just an excuse for you to have to wait: on May 1: the Socialist holiday of May Day.
Oh, Disney's shareholders must be weeping & gnashing their teeth at the thought of their newest creation doing so well, and is epitomising what they represent: Capitalism .
Spare us the fucking excuses , already. J. Michael Straczynski could premiere a series of "Babylon 5" here in the UK before being shown in the US; and not purely as a 'Thank You' to the huge success it was on our Channel 4 (with him personally supervising the broadcast of the first episode of that series at C4's studios over here), and to the fans. But because he can .
So Whedon ruined a little bit of American Exceptionalism for you lot, and you're using this BS as a cover story for your butthurt, which is what it obviously is. What's so special about you , that you can't wait? The new "Star Wars" films are being made here in the UK. You're not the centre of the world, o fundies in the US. Deal with it.

You lucky bastard.
Whedon called for spiteful and heavy-handed measures against his ideological opponents on that issue: "Policy makers who deny basic scientific truth should also be denied penicillin, horseless carriages, air time on the magic box of shadows".
Uh, there's a difference between making an argument and proposing a policy. His point is that if you reject science you should reject all of it, not just the parts you like. But way to miss the point entirely.
So in other words Whedon isn't a right-wing dumbass.
Science and ethics shouldn't have to pick a side, but unfortunately in this country, the Republican party has decided to oppose science and ethics. People who use the scientific method to arrive at conclusions, and who treat others with basic decency are forced to vote Democrat because the Republican party has taken the stance of anti-science and bigotry.
According to "Wail'em Balan", recognizing climate change & women's rights automatically makes you a member of The Weather Underground.
Oh, and Matt just figured out now that Whedon is Progressive? It's not like he hasn't spent his career standing up for women's rights and such.
This is like that other idiot wingnut who stated he was a big Pink Floyd fan and was shocked...SHOCKED I tell ya...and furious that Roger Waters' The Wall show was overly Left-Wing political!
>Joss Whedon, the director of the blockbuster comic book movie, The Avengers, revealed the extreme extent of his left-wing politics in a Wednesday post on Twitter.
And why is any of this important? I'm not going to listen to Joss Whedon to form my political opinions any more than I'm going to listen to Ken Ham for my understanding of science.
>After asserting that "the climate IS changing - if we can't, that makes us dumber than weather #ClimateChangeIsReal,"
Guess what, the climate is changing, and would be changing even if humans didn't exist. So even if anthropogenic warming was completely false, we should still at least do something to adapt to a warmer climate.
>"Whedon called for spiteful and heavy-handed measures against his ideological opponents on that issue: "Policy makers who deny basic scientific truth should also be denied penicillin, horseless carriages, air time on the magic box of shadows".
He was obviously joking you humorless dipshit.
the reaction from some conservatives on Twitter was swift:
Which, since they were the group Whedon called out, is unsurprising.
Confused?
