[From a review of the movie Happy Feet ]
Many of you while reading this review might believe that I am being paranoid or over zealous, however, please know that I am not. “Happy Feet” launches a scathing attack against fundamentalists in every fashion, and they take no prisoners, nor do they hide their intentions. The opening scene of this movie is nothing less than the crazy penguins worshiping the great penguin in the sky, except when we see his image, the penguin god has his arms stretched in a crucifix type fashion. Thus setting the tone for the rest of the movie. In the film’s defense, the movie does not really step up the jabs, slams and punishment of Christians until about half way into the movie, then the punches just keep coming, one after another after another.
Here are a few examples of how they slam Christianity:
1. The great penguin in the sky sets the tone with a Christ-like cross.
2. The man who everyone goes to for wisdom is supposed to be a prophet who speaks to the almighty (except we realize he is a fraud).
3. The leader of the penguins is a pastor-like figure who literally speaks hell and condemnation.
4. The entire subplot is how Christians are unaccepting of anything different than them, and how we will not allow someone into our church who has an alternative lifestyle. The character in the movie who the leadership of the fold is harshly against, is the penguin with Happy Feet. He dances instead of sings, therefore they look the other way every time he is around. There is even one point where they say to him “Repent and Turn” and then they kick him out of the fold for his evil ways. Yes, this is a HUGE pro-homosexual agenda and is not accidental.
5. About 16 other reference to how bad Christians area: Continues mocking, jokes and jabs. There are way too many to list in my review.

About sixteen, you say... seems an oddly specific number, especially without naming any... because sixteen is too many to list.
Also, yes, getting thrown out for dancing instead of singing is about as sensible as being thrown out for your sexual preference... at least you figured that out.
Prior to this, I thought the worst thing about "Happy Feet" was it was awful, it paid two Australians to imitate American icons, and summarily, it made me want to fuck a penguin because it would be like having Nicole Kidman and Marilyn Monroe at the same time.
But you have so convincingly made the case that this movie perfectly describes your fraudulent, intolerant community without refuting it, that you have convinced me. "Happy Feet" is all about you and how much you suck.
...seriously? Are there any children's movies that these people actually LIKE?
Honestly, I think these people are just trying to kill the movie industry (and failing miserably at it -- Happy Feet, among other movies, has always been a popular choice for my church's Awana ministry).
"Many of you while reading this review might believe that I am being paranoid or over zealous, however, please know that I am not."
Whatever, looney toons. Isn't it time for your meds?
And yet a number of people who worked on the film are Christians who saw no problem with it.
Perhaps the subplot is about no listening to false prophets? Ever thought about that? No, I guess not.
Why don'y you just accept that it is purely fictional and get a life!
What you, John, should have ranted about is how we humans were presented in this cartoon as gods to these poor birds. They had to dance and entertain (pray to) us so we wouldn't slaughter them.
From your context, that would be blasphemous, donchathink?
OK so Happy Feet wasn't a superb movie. Big deal. Oh and it doesn't slam Christianity - it's calling people out on every stupid prejudice, religious and otherwise, that had made life miserable. What the hell is so bad about a movie doing that?
ETA: Brenz's comment is one of the weirdest, and also funniest, I've seen regarding Happy Feet.
Anyone that starts their post with 'Many of you while reading this review might believe that I am being paranoid or over zealous, however, please know that I am not.' does not deserve to have their post taken seriously anyway.

Isnt it true that if someone claims not to be insane its a sure sign that they ARE!
It sucks when a shiny mirror jumps out of nowhere and forces you to take a good long look at yourself, doesn't it?
@brenz: Nicole Kidman - Mmmmmmmm!
Yes, let´s rant about humanised penguins which, logically, can´t accept Jesus as his Lord and Saviour. These guys are totally retarded.
It is called satire. The things they mock aren't specific to Christianity either.
Get off the cross, someone else needs the wood.
I don't remember anything like that from Happy Feet. I hardly remember the movie at all, apparently it didn't anger this agnostic, as much as it did you.
If you see all this attacks at you in a harmless movie, maybe you are doubting your faith? A case of "you find what you look for", perhaps?
Why "about 16"? If you use the word "about", don't you usually take an even 10 or 20 or 40, or a not-so-even but in-the-middle 15, 25 or 55?
I always think it's funny when a movie uses Biblical or church structure analogies to depict over-controlling,hypocritical,subversive, unjust and elitist societies and fundies always see their religion in it.
But never get the f'n point
Your religion has a long history of torture and subjegation, it's always going to be comparable to injustice
Fuck me, if a kids cartoon about dancing CGI penguins gets you foaming at the mouth, I daren't imagine how the collective heads of you fundies will asplode when "Legion" is released this year!
If this upcoming film isn't as Anti-God as it's possible to get, I suggest you never watch "Monty Python's Life of Brian".
a prophet who speaks to the almighty (except we realize he is a fraud)
ie. Ted Haggard, Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart...
a pastor-like figure who literally speaks hell and condemnation
ie. Fred Phelps, Shirley Phelps, the Westboro Baptist Church...
Doesn't sound like Christianity bashing to me. Sounds like they're calling a spade a spade as you often like to say, Johnny.
so...you object to the implication that Christians are narrow minded and discriminatory in one sentence, and then whine about how people are challenging your discriminatory pre-conceptions in the next. Way to prove the movie correct: you really are narrow minded and discriminatory, and you really do need to be confronted with the problems with that. Unfortunately you're to busy holding onto denial to learn anything from it!
Wow! Really? This movie has all of that in it?
Jeez...I think I've just been persuaded to watch it over again! =D
Honestly, if seeing such cruel actions towards the penguin with "Happy Feet" reminds you of your own religion, then that says more about your religion than it does about the movie.
Funny, I watched Happy Feet and I didn't see a single reference to Christianity in any way, shape or form. All I saw was an attack on the sort of people who are dead-set against any and all changes, even in cases in which change is clearly necessary.
Also, the penguin isn't gay--he spends much of the movie trying to win the heart of a female penguin. So all the "gay agenda" crap people have said about this movie is complete bullshit.
"The entire subplot is how Christians are unaccepting of anything different than them, and how we will not allow someone into our church who has an alternative lifestyle."
What's the matter, were they hitting too close to home and you couldn't stand to see the truth about yourself? Christians ARE unaccepting of anyone different from them, so I don't know why you'd be so upset because someone pointed this out. Unless, of course, you realize how wrong it is to be this way and know that you should change.
...And all those slams are completely accurate. You prove that yourself by saying they shun the guy who's different, and then point out that this is exactly like how you guys shun homosexuals. (Since if you accepted us, you would not make the connection that "don't shun people who are different" = obviously pro-homosexual agenda). Way to prove the movie's point.*
Oh and I like how suggesting that you should treat others with basic human decency, even if they are different from you, is a "HUGE pro-homosexual agenda." Like it's somehow radical to say you should treat your fellow human beings with respect. For fuck's sake.
(Assuming his description is correct; I haven't seen the film)
Sigh. The totally-predictable part of the fundie response to a cartoon - "It's persecuting Christianity!"
It's more along the lines of persecuting anyone who is different from the standards of the herd. This idiot claims the movie is "pro-homosexual", which is pretty hilarious for a movie about a boy penguin in love with a girl penguin.
This movie should speak to any of the following:
1. The only Democrat in a family of Republicans.
2. The only bookworm in a family of athletes.
3. The tonedeaf person in a family of musicians.
4. The sci-fi geek in a family of Luddites.
See a pattern developing? How about this one?
5. The only believer in a family of atheists.
Oooo! Straight to hell for me!
Everyone knows that "penguins" are just the "midgits" that Our Noodly Master had left over after he populated the mountain. There is a DIAGRAM on vengenza.org!
IT'S IN THE GOSPEL, PEOPLE!!
