I'm so sick of people trying to come don on Christians for being against everything but violence. Sure violence should be something to be considered, but blasphemy is 1,000 times worse. Spitting in the face of your God is something far worse than pretending to kill people. Violence is so basic and ingrained in people that it is almost harmless. To the mind at least. Explaining this to you people who aren't religious is a moot point though. You won't get it and never will. Same goes with nudity, you always cry foul when we hate nudity but are ok with killing people. Nudity is far more damaging to a person than violence. Again, violence is such a common thing in every culture that is basically normal, part of us. Not saying it's good, but we are used to it. Nudity and others things are far more damaging. Blasphemy is about the top dog for no no's when it comes to religion and your beliefs. I can't even properly explain this to you agnostic/atheist's out there. It is a concept too far beyond your understanding since everything is always just about you.

So... if my girlfriend flashed her tits at you, for some bizarre reason, that would be worse than if she, say, stabbed you in the neck?
Somehow, I doubt it.
You have to admit that he has a point. Sexual immorality is a surer sign of societal decay than a culture of violence, because violence isn't necessarily done for selfish and hedonistic reasons.
Anyone here ever been in a street fight? If so, how recently and what happened?
Seeing someone murdering another human being in a bloody, grotesque way, good. Seeing a naked tit, bad.
Just when I think these people have finally hit rock bottom and said the dumbest, most awful, most inhuman thing possible, they break out the shovels and start digging. I don't think there IS a bottom anymore.
"I can't even properly explain this to you agnostic/atheist's out there. It is a concept too far beyond your understanding since everything is always just about you."
I get the feeling that there are a great many things far beyond your grasp.
"Nudity is far more damaging to a person than violence."
Never mind what I just said. You are a moron, period.
but would you holiday in an Islamic nation and say you thought Muhammad was a wife beating, pedophile, murderer or psychotic?
Maybe you wouldn't - now why is that?
Nudity is far more damaging to a person than violence.
Okay, you versus me, you flash your junk at me. and I hit you with a baseball bat. Let us see who remains standing.
@Phillip-George(c)2013 - just passing
What does Allah think of blasphemy?
It isn't very different from the old and the the new testament, because after all it is the same deity, aka the god of Abraham.
Maybe you wouldn't - now why is that?
You also wouldn't want to bad mouth the royalty in Burma or Thailand, or would want to say anything nasty about Buddha in Sri Lanka, Nepal or Tibet. Of course there are parts of America where you could get hurt for mocking Jesus, or parts of Israel where you could get into very serious trouble for any verbal abuse directed at Israel or her policies. The point is, there are ignorant, violent bigots in all parts and all societies of the world, and Muslims aren't an alien species. But on the other hand, Islamophobia is the fashion of our times, so whatever.
"Nudity is far more damaging to a person than violence.
I visited a nude beach once, and the worst thing that happened to me was that I felt a desire to poke my own eyes out a couple of times. I've also been shot at and would have to say that getting hit with a bullet is far worse than seeing a naked body, even an ugly naked body.
It's strange but when I worked in emergency surgery, the real problem tended to centre around the fact that the patient been stabbed in the chest for example, rather than the fact that we had to remove their clothing in order to treat their injuries. Have I failed the Christianity entrance exam?
In your twisted world nudity and talking openly about religion are worse than violence towards your fellow man. That is exactly the kind of thing that motivates terrorists to blow up innocent women and children, and it is the reason why your way of thinking is quickly becoming a thing of the past. You are a relic of a darker age.
If you check the thread you'll see he's talking about virtual violence in a video game,compared to nudity and blasphemey.
He is not saying anything about real physical violence at all (he may think the same about that for all I know, but its certainly NOT what he's saying here).
This quote is taken out of context. Sorry, even fundies deserve to be treated fairly.
If you claim to be a christian, follow the bible etc, but you aren't against violence, then you're not a christian. What was that, oh, right "He who lives by the sword dies by the sword" -Jesus Christ.
Same goes with nudity, you always cry foul when we hate nudity but are ok with killing people.
At least this little fucker's honest. Given their history, it's blatantly obvious christians love violence, especially if they can use their religion to justify it. It's rare to see one of them admit it, though.

Oh, thank FSM for that, but still how can this...

@Reynardine
Huh? What kind of thing?
I was religious for most of my life. I used to completely "get it" as you say.
Nudity is worse than violence? Well I'd rather get flashed by someone than be shot by them but whatever.
I would say nudity is more ingrained in people considering we're born naked and see ourselves naked every day or so assuming you bathe. I don't want to make assumptions.
Violence is almost harmless!? Nudity is more damaging to a person than violence!? You're an a$$hole AND a sh*thead
P.S. Blasphemy is nothing according to MY beliefs. I can't even properly explain this to you as you're too dull and deluded.
Idea for fundie medical science show.
Agent Bryant: "What happened here, Dan?"
Medical examiner Ross: "Looks like someone nuded her to death, chief."
Agent Bryant: "Again? When will this naked insanity end? Now go pray for God to reveal the identity of the naked bandit."
Ross: "10-4, chief. I'll pray as hard as I can."
Bryant: "Good man. You keep up the good work and I'm putting you in for a promotion."
It has always shocked me that the movie ratings system in America rates movies higher for sexual content than for violence, while European countries are the exact opposite. For example, a violent horror movie in America might be R(17+ unless with guardian) but in Europe is 18+ regardless of guardian consent, while a movie featuring sexual content is NC-17(17+ regardless of consent) or even banned, while in Europe its 15+.... I'm sorry, but last I checked, sex, sexuality and the human body were natural, beautiful things that hurt no-one (at least where proper consent and education is concerned)... while shooting someone.. pretty sure that hurts ppl... *sigh*
I think that you can't explain it because you haven't examined it at all. You've just accepted what you were told with no question. Start actually looking at what you believe. Start actually examining it and comparing it to the world around you. If you do that, surely you will be able to explain it in a way that makes sense to people, if it's a valid belief. If you can't do that, then maybe it's the belief that isn't valid.
"Sure violence should be something to be considered, but blasphemy is 1,000 times worse."
Not for those who do not believe.
"Violence is so basic and ingrained in people that it is almost harmless."
You're kidding. You're kidding, right? /NightmareMoon
"Nudity is far more damaging to a person than violence."
*almost goes braindead*
"Blasphemy," or the accusation of same, is a tool whereby the clerics can set their brain-dead followers upon anyone showing signs of dissent or independent thought.
The fact that you don't understand this suggests that you are one such brain-dead follower.
I could drive a nail into your brain and do less damage than your indoctrination has done to your mind. You have been told nudity is bad in order to associate human sexual urges and even your own skin with feelings of shame. You have been put into a corner and told not to think about a white elephant. In short, you have been made to be conflicted, and are batshit crazy. Then, your handlers have turned you loose on the rest of us.
It is a concept too far beyond your understanding since you are demonstrably incapable of rational thought, all the while thinking that you have said something intelligent.
If I like it it's a natural part of human nature, of you like it it's a deadly sin.
Aggressivity is part of human nature. Violence is how a moron chooses to express it.
When the Godfather movie was shown in US theaters, one scene was censored. It was not one of the many many bloody gory violent scenes, no they were all shown. The scene censored was when Michael got married to the beautiful Sicilian girl and she dropped her gown and showed her 100% amazingly superbly perfect breasts for 2 seconds.
US: Violence? Meh, let the kids watch! Naked body? Shut off the TV, call the station, newspaper and lawyer and sue and make a ruckus.
And people wonder why the US society is so crappy?
Once again, just for info, he's talking about video game violence, not real world violence (see origional thread).
He's suggesting that in a video game context, violence is less harmful than nudity and blasphemy, presumably because although the violence is obviously not real, the nudity and blasphemy are real.
Not saying he's not fundie or crazy, but he's not as crazy as taking his comments compleatly out of context makes him seem.
Fetuses are nude, and if they're allowed to develop, they become nude babies. Abort them all as blastulas and.gastrulas, before they become nude!
"Sure violence should be something to be considered, but blasphemy is 1,000 times worse. Spitting in the face of your God is something far worse than pretending to kill people."
Uuuuuh... First prove that your Gawd exists. Then prove that he actually minds blasphemy. For all you know, he could be a masochist/submissive who gets off on getting spit on, and the prohibition against blasphemy could be a reverse-psychology attempt to trick humanity into giving him what he wants :P
"I can't even properly explain this to you agnostic/atheist's out there."
On that, we agree.
"Nudity which hurts noone is evil but violence, which hurts people is fine" - Bizarroworld values, ladies & gents!
Just round 'em up & ship them to Pluto!
Since that's impossible, ship them to an island where they can worship Khorne unfettered & kill each other for fun!
@Reynardine
Oh okay, thanks.
@KittyKaboom
That is Madison, the protagonist of "Heavy Rain", a PS3 game. Apparently there is an interactive shower scene of her in the game. It is stupid and tacked on, but still much better than someone getting pointlessly decapitated or disemboweled amidst a fountain of blood.

I knew this comment was going to end on FSTDT anytime soon - I frequent Kotaku daily and then this commment popped up.
Nudity leading to violence? Then Michaelangelo's David has to be the cause of all of history's wars /sarcasm/.
So...now let me get this straight.
Disbelief in your God? Unforgivable.
Nudity? Beyond heinous.
A person hurting, maiming or KILLING another person? Meh.
You people have some fucked up priorities.
[EDIT]
@Warren McIntosh
Even in light of this, my point stands. It has always baffled me that seeing someone kill someone else is far less frowned upon than seeing a cock or a pair of tits. PARTICULARLY a cock.
"Spitting in the face of your God is something far worse than pretending to kill people."
If it's pretending and isn't actually harming people, I'd argue that they're on the same level of evil (not at all).
Nudity is abnormal, eh? You don't take showers?
Confused?
