Have you ever wondered about the flag of the European Union: 12 gold stars on a blue background. Back in 1993-4 when I was researching for the first book I was attempting to write, Europe and the Beast, I got in touch with some EU officials to ask about the EU flag.......what did the 12 gold stars represent and would they eventually increase in number as other nations joined the European Union? The answer I was given was that the number of gold stars would remain the same (12) choose how many nations might join the Union. I was also told that the number 12 represented either the 12 just men on a jury (signifying JUSTICE, the notion of a JUST union) or the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ (can you believe that!).
Now, I am a firm believer that the EU is morphing into the final version (the world-ruling version with the Antichrist at its head) of the Roman Empire that we read about in Daniel. I feel the EU will come to be the main hub of a possibly ten-spoked wheel (other power blocks, such as the African Union etc., being the subordinate spokes).
As Christians, we know the devil, right from the time of Adam and Eve, has always tended to mock God whenever he can. The woman in Revelation 12 represents Israel; she has a crown of twelve stars on her head (symbolic of the 12 tribes of Israel). The EU flag has a crown of 12 gold stars on a blue background. The colours gold and blue are highly significant in the garments of Israel's high priests (Exodus 28).
I do feel the Antichrist, under Satan's influence, will, for a time, set himself up to be the one true god and ruler of the world. He will try his best to destroy the nation of Israel; and all this under a mocking emblem of the high-priestly colours and the crown of 12 stars which represent the very apple of God's eye!
