Have you ever wondered about the flag of the European Union: 12 gold stars on a blue background. Back in 1993-4 when I was researching for the first book I was attempting to write, Europe and the Beast, I got in touch with some EU officials to ask about the EU flag.......what did the 12 gold stars represent and would they eventually increase in number as other nations joined the European Union? The answer I was given was that the number of gold stars would remain the same (12) choose how many nations might join the Union. I was also told that the number 12 represented either the 12 just men on a jury (signifying JUSTICE, the notion of a JUST union) or the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ (can you believe that!).
Now, I am a firm believer that the EU is morphing into the final version (the world-ruling version with the Antichrist at its head) of the Roman Empire that we read about in Daniel. I feel the EU will come to be the main hub of a possibly ten-spoked wheel (other power blocks, such as the African Union etc., being the subordinate spokes).
As Christians, we know the devil, right from the time of Adam and Eve, has always tended to mock God whenever he can. The woman in Revelation 12 represents Israel; she has a crown of twelve stars on her head (symbolic of the 12 tribes of Israel). The EU flag has a crown of 12 gold stars on a blue background. The colours gold and blue are highly significant in the garments of Israel's high priests (Exodus 28).
I do feel the Antichrist, under Satan's influence, will, for a time, set himself up to be the one true god and ruler of the world. He will try his best to destroy the nation of Israel; and all this under a mocking emblem of the high-priestly colours and the crown of 12 stars which represent the very apple of God's eye!

It's a flag, for goodness sake. Do you really see "teh debil" in everything?
What fecking century are you living in?
I was also told that the number 12 represented either the 12 just men on a jury (signifying JUSTICE, the notion of a JUST union)
Except that almost none of the countries in the EU have courts that use juries like the US does.
or the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ (can you believe that!).
Actually, no.
The funny thing is, according to Wikipedia there is an actual theory that the design of the flag is inspired by the halo of the Virgin Mary:

Maybe that would be to Catholic for someone from RR
"I do feel the Antichrist, under Satan's influence, will, for a time, set himself up to be the one true god and ruler of the world. "
Well, I do feel that Voldemort and Lex Luthor will join forces and kick the antichrists ass so they, not he, can control the world. So there!
No, I haven't wondered about the EU flag. The stars are in yellow and represent unity.
EU is having financial problems right now. If Satan is influencing us, he's doing a shitty job! Or maybe Dubbya Bush is Satan...
Some countries in the EU are pretty religious, others are pretty secular. Each country has its own laws, only some laws are common. Some countries have liberal abortion laws, others have very strict anti-abortion laws. Some are pro-human rights, others have anti-gay legislations. None of us have the death penalty, that's one of the common laws. Only brutal, medieval countries have the death penalty. And the US, it can hardly be medieval, as it wasn't around then.
The nation of Israel is doing its best to destroy itself, by making itself VERY unpopular among its neighbors. The best way of keeping Israel, is for Israel to come to the Peace talk table with actual peace in mind, instead of illegally occupying more land during the talks.
I don't believe you actually called an EU official, because a) what they told you was bull and b) I don't know why the EU would take calls from Americans, they should really be there for EU citizens and possibly citizens of membership candidates.
Anyhow, the flag's meaning goes like this:
"Against the blue sky of the Western world, the stars represent the peoples of Europe in a circle, a symbol of unity. Their number shall be invariably set at twelve, the symbol of completeness and perfection." - Council of Europe. Paris, 79 December 1955
Btw, the European Flag was adopted before the EU even existed by the Council of Europe at which time the Turkish blcoked this

proposal as too Christian. While the flag creator was inspired by the Christian symbolism, the EU denies all connections to Christianity as a myth.
Any idea of religious origins of the stars on the flag is a myth. The stars represent unity, blue represents peace and gold represents prosperity. That wasn't too difficult, was it?
@Swede
You mean more unpopular than the four times when Israel's neighbors tried to wipe it off the map?
@Arthur Lager
"It's a flag, for goodness sake. Do you really see "teh debil" in everything?"
Yes they do.
Just check the RR forum everything in there is either connected to the devil, their imminent rapture or the coming of the antichrist.
"What fecking century are you living in?"
I think its a weird mixture of early medieval ages with early american colonial times, to tell you the truth the average RR user is so disconnected from reality that its something hard to tell if the even live in the same planet as the rest of us.
"...we know the devil, right from the time of Adam and Eve, has always tended to mock God..."
Of course, God will be mocked by most sane people as well, specially if we're talking Bible God. What a dick, thank goodness He doesn't exist.
There, I'm sure I've taken you just a little bit closer to the Wooshfest er...soon. Happy with me now that I've so obviously helped you by becoming a blatant sign? Also, bonus for you, as it was much desired fresh persecution as well.
What a kind person I am.
It's back! IT'S BAAAACK!!!
The Roman Empire floats again, OMFG!!!11!!
Gold stars! 12 of them... Blue... Aaargh.
These are the last days. The sky is falling. Wooooooooooo , I'm scared.
What? What the officials say presents them as Christ supporters, not the antichrist!
Or maybe...
This guy is insane in the brain.
"Have you ever wondered about the flag of the European Union: 12 gold stars on a blue background."
No.
"the first book I was attempting to write, Europe and the Beast,"
A real page turner. Have you sold the film rights yet?
And here was I, thinking that the reason the EU flag has 12 stars on it was because at the time of the flag design there were 12 memberstates. :-P
But your explanation sounds good as well, Colin.
I do feel the Antichrist, under Satan's influence, will, for a time, set himself up to be the one true god and ruler of the world.
Strange. I thought God was supposed to be almighty.
It gets worse, ColinH3! 12 stars in a circle... a circle has 360 degrees, divided by 12 is 30, which is 6 x 6 - 6! 666! Whoooo! Scary! Now carry the 2 and save the 10 for your golf score on the 2nd hole, and SATAN!!! There's even a blasphemous reference to the Alleg-ed Virgin Mary's cootch in there if you squint hard enough....
Or maybe it's a reference to putting all one's eggs in one basket, since eggs are sold by the dozen. I'm not sure....
> I was also told that the number 12 represented either the 12 just men on a jury (signifying JUSTICE, the notion of a JUST union)
Highly depending on the country. England uses 12 jurors, the rest of the EU countries use just about any number between that and - surprise surprise - none .
> or the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ (can you believe that!).
...or they could have just picked it based on the number of the original member states. But that would have been too logical.
You're a blithering idiot and you're worried about flags. Not really. You're just an attention seeking drama queen who enjoys being a dork. And you've found the perfect outlet for your unwholesome proclivities, Rapture Ready.
Rapture Ready, where your imagination has the perfect framework of unhealthy delusion with which to indulge your melodramatic lunacy safe in the knowledge that you're among fellow drips who'll applaud your every deranged outburst.

"Only brutal, medieval countries have the death penalty."
(Rat grins as he growls in his best Nathan Explosion voice.) Brutal...

Well, they do often proclaim themselves to be "in this world, but not of this world".
We Italians are not merely members of the EU, we have Rome as our capital.
WE ARE COMING TO GET YOU. SOON.
(Well, we would, if we weren't broke).
@WWWWolf
There were six original states: Belgium, France, West Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands. It only reached twelve in 1986.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
