"It was just too damn obvious that she never, even once took an Atheist side on any topic."
What is an "atheist side"?
It's only a relatively small group like AronRa and a few others like FtB, A+ etc. and the so-called "YouTube Atheist Community" that are trying to push this "atheists should be leftists" narrative.
Atheism is just not believing in gods. It doesn't say much about politics. The only thing that wouldn't make much sense is to be anti-secular, but many people can't even seem to agree what that is precisely. For example, should the government be 100% fully neutral to religion (basically pretend it doesn't exist) OR can it intervene when a specific religion threatens to tear the entire secular system apart from within or exploits the freedoms it has to gain an unfair power over other religions? The Supreme Court in the US has already ruled for example that certain aspects of religion don't constitute a "free excercise of religion" (including human sacrifice and even polygamy). I would certainly want the government to monitor and if need be stop dangerous cults that violate the non-aggression principle. Religion cannot be a cover for violence and sedition anymore than the free market can be a cover for slavery or small government can be a cover for abolishing the age of consent. Anyone who thinks freedom should come with 0 responsibility is a narcissist maniac, not a "tolerant" person.
While I wouldn't go as far as SE Cupp to say that I'd NEVER ever vote for an atheist, I almost certainly would not vote for an atheist in practice. Not many of them run in the first place (or they hide it) and so far I haven't seen ONE candidate anywhere that is both openly atheist and has even remotely conservative principles. Damn you don't need to be a shill for the evangelicals and praise religion, but you could support a free market, a solid foreign policy and the nuclear family. These are principles that aren't antithetical to secularism and can be understood independent of religion. Just the other month AronRa was promoting one and of course, it was a typical regressive leftist. Typical.
If you're going to play into the atheists=leftists stereotype, don't be surprised if people don't trust you.
You want more atheists in politics? Get RockingMrE and Stefan Molyneux to run. They'll win in a landslide over the RINOs.
In fact I kinda suspect Trump might not be as Christian as he says he is. He's winning over Cruz, he's winning over RINO Jeb, both more religious than he is or even claims to be.
