I found this out the day before I had to go to our yearly benefits choice seminar, where I found out same sex partners can be covered on insurance, effective July 1st. I'll tell you, I think herto-sexuals are being discriminated against.

Well, I'm quite sure herto-sexuals don't have any rights officially recongnized, so they ARE discriminated against.
Hetero-sexuals, on the other hand, are not.
Sophie, be honest here. You don't really think your being discriminated against, do you? It's just that when other people are afforded the same rights that you have, it makes it harder for you to look down on them . . . isn't that right?
Sophie, would you like to be discriminated against? Here's a hint: It's not good. You're not going through it now; you merely think you are because you're used to discriminating against others.
What is it with fundies and "giving you the rights that I have mean I'm being discriminated against?"
On second thought, I don't know that you're NOT being discriminated against, since I have no idea what a "herto-sexual" is.
Ao7 - that was going to be my line.
When you said 'herto-sexuals', did you mean 'Hurt-o-sexual', implying massive sadism, or 'Hertzo-sexual', meaning you're not into batteries, but mains operated electrical stimulation, tingles, shocks, or sex toys?
(and yes, you're correct - those 'freaks' should also have equal rights, as well as the heterosexuals and homosexuals (gays and lesbians))
I believe they have been stripped of their God given [self proclaimed] right to feel "smug, condescending, sanctimonious and [erroneously] superior to those of a differing sexual persuasion."
Outrageous! Those dang Liberals have already removed their rights to flog their slaves and stone their rebellious children to death, now the very cornerstones of their bigotry are being threatened!
The twisted thinking behind this particular claom of decsrimination is more along the lines of same sex partners can get benefits but (unmarried) heterosxual partners can't. But people like Sophie fail to understand that the the reason same sex partners get stuff like this is because they CAN'T get married - so this is the next best thing. A lot of unmarried same sex couples in MA got a little screwed over when same sex marriage was made legal. Since it was now legal, companies threw out the same sex partnership benefits since it was theoretically covered by state law now. Mostly the fault of those that didn't get the license, but some people that lived just over the state border, but worked in MA, got it in the ass.
Sadly, it does work as a legal argument. A few years ago, the Philadelphia city gov't offered benefits to registered same sex couples for city workers. Some ass sued for discrimination because nothing like that was available for heterosexual unmarried couples. He won.
Because they are covered too?. By the way, my car insurance covers me when I'm abroad, does it mean that Irish, Turkish and Greek people are discriminated against?
W...what? Couples that you will likely never meet are getting the same benefits that you are, and you're being discriminated against? Buds, discrimination is when you actively try to LIMIT a group. Like, say, actively working to ensure...just in a hypothetical situation...that same-sex couples never reach recognition as anything other than second class citizenry?
I think herto-sexuals are being discriminated against.
Me too. God damned all those fuckers who persecute the herto sexuals. Why aren't there louder voices standing up for the herto sexuals? I mean, you hear all these people standing up for homosexuals and heterosexuals, but why not for the herto sexuals?
“…I found out same sex partners can be covered on insurance, effective July 1st.”
Aw, the world is moving on without your permission. Poor little fuckstick.
“ I'll tell you, I think herto-sexuals are being discriminated against.”
Um, how? What have you lost? YOU still have spouse coverage of employer-based insurance, right? No discrimination there.
Did anything invalidate your wedding certificate? License? Prenuptials contract? No discrimination there.
Can you sit together at a public restaurant? Some interracial couples couldn’t when I was growing up. So, some racial discrimination, but not herto-sexual discrimination.
Sometimes when my wife and I go to fast-food, the counterman rings up her order when she finishes, thinking I’m a separate customer. But that’s not because we’re ‘hertosexuals.’
You’ve lost NOTHING except you can’t bully gay couples for being gay. So, not discrimination.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
