Atheism is so a religion, like communism, democracy, and any other cult you feel like belonging too. The cult of reason is not that special, and although it appeals to most today, it wasn't always and may not forever be the case.

Atheism...is...not...a..RELIGION, IDIOTS! How many bloody times do we have to say it!!?? Nor is it a cult, nor is it like communism. Atheism is just a disbelief in the existence of a deity...THATS IT...PERIOD...THE END. What part of that do you fundtards not understand!?
Exactly, atheism, communism and democracy are equally religious... they aren't at all! Got it now?
Thing is: Atheism is a non-belief, we don't believe in any of your Gods ( the one thing you need to be a religion is a God) no matter what religion you are.
This means we're not clannish, we don't follow a command centre (church) we don't have anything in common aside from this disbelief in things that are made up.
And everyone was an Atheist at the early years of their life. It's the default of humans and indeed all life
No, people were not always into democracy or reason. At times dictatiorships or theocracies have appealed more to the leader of a country, and insanity has appealed to people from time to time during history.
People might indeed throw out reason and adopt insanity and fairy tales instead. Hopefully not during my lifetime.
