Great post Neil! What we need to know about God and Jesus is written in the Bible. There are no errors (Bible difficulties, yes; errors, no) and the “argument from silence” claim that some use to excuse their sin doesn’t hold any water.

Right - thousands of years of copying and translating the bible by hand while your native tongue slowly evolves allows your holy book to be infallible, on top of the fact that the people that were copying it were slowing losing political power and were desperately trying to hold onto it. They wouldn't be tempted to make slight alterations in order to make their cause look better.
I've got some confederated products you might be interested in purchasing...

What, exactly, is a "difficulty?" If you can explain it without using the word "error" or any of its synonyms, I'll believe you.

Is the difficulty that it's pretty much all bullshit?

You just blew my mind.

If by "Bible difficulties" you mean contradictions of scientific knowledge and itself, then I wholeheartedly agree.
"Errors"? In the BIBLE??? Pffsshhh - surely you jest, sir.
Perhaps a kerfuffle or two, maybe . Chalk 'em up to printing typos.

So four legged insects are just "difficulties" because nobody's ever found an insect and, indeed, anything with four legs can't be classified as an insect. And here I thought it was an error.
Thanks for clearing that up.

God incarnates himself as a human, bums around for 30 odd years performing miracles of various sorts, pisses off the Jewish priesthood and the Romans, is publicly crucified after a personal audience with Pilate and then resurrects himself after a weekend nap in a tomb, wanders around for a while talking to his disciples and then ascends into the fucking sky and nobody notices save the authors of four anonymous texts; two of which appear to be copied in good portion from a single source document.
Right. Doesn't hold water at all.

- What about contradictions; what about cherry-picking; what about mistranslations; what about extrapolating conclusions vaguely valid 2,500 years ago and applying them to a different society - a different world?
If Bible-wielders had their way the Amish would look like they were using 23rd century technology!
So then god knows and doesn't know what is in man's heart, the historical facts match up precisely, insects have four legs, the earth is flat
4Simspons? Well, if Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa have trouble with the Bible, they can always ask Rev. Lovejoy, although I'm sure Ned Flanders would be happy to help. He thinks the Bible is just okely-dokely.
Confused?
