Nobody is an atheist.
1) Every conscious person is self-aware.
2) The universe has substance.
I feel atheists don't want to acknowledge these two statements.

Nobody is a Christian
1) Jesus Christ, if he even existed, lived and died a Jew. He never gave permission for his name to be used to describe a different religion.
2) Jesus never wrote down anything he supposedly said, and the oldest examples we have of his words passed through several generations before they were put in writing. There is no way of knowing how much they have been altered.
I feel fundamentalists don't want to acknowledge these two statements.
Thank you Captain Not-So-Obvious. Would you please get to the point? No one disagrees with these two statements, for they are both true by definition.
Conciousness requires self-awareness, for that is what makes one conscious.
If the universe did not have substance, then we would not exist, and this would be something of a moot point, wouldn't it?
back to the point - wait, there was a point to this, right? What could possibly follow from these two premises? I submit that they are valid premises, for they are true by definition. But what could reasonably be the logical connection between these premises and the attempted conclusion?
I am tempted to nominate a Post Hoc Ergo Idiot award, but it doesn't really fit here. Can anyone think of another witty title for a logical fallacy award?
1) I (and, for that matter, many of the people here) seem to be proof that your first statement is wrong.
2) The two statements you don't think atheists want to acknowledge have exactly nothing to do with atheism. Yes, conscious people are self-aware. Yes, the universe has substance. Your point?
I can't even begin to guess what word you were looking for, but it certainly wasn't atheist.
Self awareness is an important step in a child's development. Until this is achieved are you saying they are not a person? What if their pre-frontal lobe is damaged - does this mean they are not a person?
Interestingly self awareness is the first step towards theory of mind, which is a necessary step to a belief in a God. No child is born believing in God - they need to be indoctrinated into the great lie!
I have a Down's Syndrome nephew and, though he is conscious, it's hard to prove that he is self-aware.
As a hard-line atheist, I'm happy to agree that *I* am conscious and self-aware.
Also, I agree that the universe has substance. So what? Almost everyone smarter than a pickle will agree with that.
"I feel atheists don't want to acknowledge these two statements." This statement is probably true, that is, I believe that you feel that way. Of course, your feelings have no bearing on what is actually true.
All atheists are a bunch of doody-heads, and they eat bugs and worms, and they are weird and ugly! They wet their beds, they have giant teeth and they smell like elephant's butts! LOL!!
1. I'm a song from the sixties.
2. I was raised by a cup of coffee.
3. Therefore, God exists, Maronan is the richest lion in the world, Vedant is incapable of saying the word "cheese" and my sister watches too much Homestarrunner.
(Note: I think it's "Non-sequitur.")
Well, I'm self-aware, and the universe seems to exist to some extent, but I'm still an atheist. HOLY FUCK
My infant is conscious. He is not self aware. When he looks in the mirror, he is totally excited to see another baby.
So, you lose on that first point.
Well, let's see.
As to #1 - I think therefore I am. Yeah, I'd say I'm aware of my existence.
As to #2 - I just took a bite of a sandwich that certainly has substance and even satiated a bit of hunger pangs. Yeah, the universe has substance as I just demonstrated to myself.
Any of this has one iota of relevance to any sort of religious beliefs....how exactly?
1 is trivial.
2 is a gross failure.
1. John Deere tractors are green.
2. Rome's Colloseum is in ruins.
These facts prove that North Korea is not truly democratic.
Well, it makes just as much sense as Vedant's post!
“Nobody is an atheist.”
Then I am Ulysses.
“1) Every conscious person is self-aware.”
Pretty much the definition, yes.
“2) The universe has substance.”
‘Universe’ refers to everything that exists. of course substance is included.
“I feel atheists don't want to acknowledge these two statements.”
I acknowledge those two statements. I just don’t believe in any gods.
Confused?
