Thank you Captain Not-So-Obvious. Would you please get to the point? No one disagrees with these two statements, for they are both true by definition.
1) I (and, for that matter, many of the people here) seem to be proof that your first statement is wrong.
I have a Down's Syndrome nephew and, though he is conscious, it's hard to prove that he is self-aware.
All atheists are a bunch of doody-heads, and they eat bugs and worms, and they are weird and ugly! They wet their beds, they have giant teeth and they smell like elephant's butts! LOL!!

Well, I'm self-aware, and the universe seems to exist to some extent, but I'm still an atheist. HOLY FUCK
My infant is conscious. He is not self aware. When he looks in the mirror, he is totally excited to see another baby.
So, you lose on that first point.
Well, let's see.
As to #1 - I think therefore I am. Yeah, I'd say I'm aware of my existence.
As to #2 - I just took a bite of a sandwich that certainly has substance and even satiated a bit of hunger pangs. Yeah, the universe has substance as I just demonstrated to myself.
Any of this has one iota of relevance to any sort of religious beliefs....how exactly?
1 is trivial.
2 is a gross failure.
