(In answer to the question "Why are people in America more concerned about religious issues ie Abortion, Gay Marriage etc rather than the economy, the war, sustainable development, globalization etc?")
Jesus tells us what is more important.

Either your pastor is putting words in Christ's mouth, or Jesus doesn't have his priorities straight.
Call me crazy, but I'm leaning toward the former. Jesus called, and he said he's not taking you guys anywhere until you clean up the mess you made of his planet.
What does the bible say about the "blind leading the blind, both fall into a pit"? It takes an idiot to follow an idiot, especially one who doesn't even exist. So yeah, you're going to get crazy shit like this. And this numbnuts has the audacity to call himself "Albert Einstein"? You, sir, are a fucking moron. You should now go somewhere and die.
Jesus tells us what is more important.
No he doesn't. People just decide what's more important, then cherry-pick the Bible and come up with bizarre interpretations so they can pretend Jesus agrees with them. Jesus said nothing about abortion, homosexuality, the economy, the environment, war or globalization. He just said believe in God, forget about money and love your fellow man.

*facepalm*
Hm,
Jesus tells about charity, paying taxes, accepting those into the society who are considered fallen. He also tells about the dangers of religious fundamentalism (in the example of the pharisees), about not trying to consider you better than the sinners that broke any religious laws (the stoning where he asked those who are free from sin to throw the first stone) and about turning swords into plowshares.
Obviously you fundamentalists listen to the wrong Jesus ;)
Jesus can't tell you anything about these modern issues, because he's been dead for about 2000 years. Contrary to what you and your fellow Christ-pimps say, he's not coming back. Ergo, what you're hearing yourself being told is called a hallucination, and merits immediate psychiatric attention.
abortion and gay marriage are NOT religious issues, but you bully cretins want to make them into one.
Jesus doesnt tell you a damn thing because he doesnt exist..and if you think you hear him in your head then you need a psychiatrist.
"And lo, Jesus said: 'I'm not too sure about those gayers, and I think abortion might be ethically dodgy as well'. And the disciples said 'But we thought you were a bit queer, oh Lord'. And Jesus did point unto his garment and say "What? With my dress sense?" And the disciples did laugh nigh unto bursting, whereupon Simon Peter suggested they all go down the pub."

Edit: PrincessRot - fundies with their nose in my crotch? Thanks for that mental image. *shudders*
Jesus needs to get his priorities straightened out.
Giles was awesome. He's the one true God, as far as I'm concerned.
So, whether or not two consenting adults get married is more important than sustainable development or the economy?
Are you insane? People getting married has absolutely no impact on your life, whatsoever. A fucked up economy will make you even more deeply in dept to the Chinese; they will soon own your entire country.
Your fucked up economy caused me and lots of other people in Europe to lose our jobs.
The fact that gay people can marry in the Netherlands had no effect on my job in any way.
Confused?
