They may do a bang up job in the every day rearing aspects, but to say they will do better than a normal heterosexual couple is assinine.

Well, I dare to predict they will never beat, starve or otherwise maltreat their kids, and by George I know of a few heterosexual couples who did that, and more. So they're one up on those types for a start.

What is "normal?"
The contention was that they would be BETTER parents than MANY heterosexuals, not all, not most, MANY. They may, in fact, be better than ALL heterosexual parents, but that was not the assertion.

I think the case could better be made for many conservatives being "lemmings."
Sin does not exist, therefore, sin is neither OK or not OK.
Someone else's marital status and/or sexual orientation does not efect the presumed sanctity of anyone else's marriage.

Remember: if you're a rabid conservative, anyone not in you own, god-fearing circle of sheep are liberal, satanic, communist, baby-killing, muslim, demon-crats. All of those words are interchangable you know.
And still, they will raise a very well-adjusted person, respectful and who will be loved by his grandparents and all conservatives, much more than say David Hyles or Randall Terry, and you'll still say that, for some unknown reason is bad. Ok, don't claim persecution.
Y'know, it's because of this person, that I'd daresay that yes, gay parents will be far better than many straight ones. Just to be deemed fit parents, gay couples will have to jump through hoops after hoops, proving themselves to be far and above just "adequate parenting." We have to be flawless, just to keep people like this dimbulb from having ANY toehold for snatching said child away for some stupid, arbitrary excuse for "morality."
