Wrong. Just look at forums like FSTDT where most Christians leave them alone. The whole forum is one big hate forum slandering God and Christians. Would they get that angry if people told them that the Flying Spaghetti Monster condemned them to hell? We Christians are bombarded by secular beliefs all over the media, TV, movies, street corners everyday. But we don't spend our time cursing and swearing at atheists trying to censor them or make them disappear like they do with us. so they're pretty threatened by a god they think is imaginary.

The fuck you don't, I'm quite assured that given the chance to then you'd burn every book you thought that slightly disagree with you particular dogma. And what about trying to get billboards and signs taken down, that qualifies as censorship, What about advocating that certain proffesors get fired be cause they believe in evolution, and don't not accept the bible as being literally true. That's just scratching the surface. I don't know what country you grew up in, but in america those examples are considered censorship.

Forget the forums--I'd like Christians (more specifically, Christianists) to leave us alone in real life. Stop trying to invalidate my marriage--there is an appeal of the State of New York's law accepting same-sex marriages contracted out of state going on, from advocacy groups whose members don't even *live* here. Stop telling our schools what to teach our kids, especially when it's inaccurate or life-threatening (like abstinence-only sex "education") and especially when you're pulling your kids out for homeschooling and private schools anyway. Stop freaking out when an atheist group puts up *one fucking billboard* in a town with many Christian billboards! Stop lying about observances like Darwin Day! Stop trying to hound small-town occult shops out of business! Stop picking on our kids and using them to get to us!

You're the ones trying to make atheists and other non-Christians disappear, Carico! You! It's not a God that we're threatened by, Carico, you liar, it's other human beings who think being God's little helpers gives them the right to abandon basic human decency and literally demonize others.

I know this is long and angry, but I also know that Carico and some Rapture Readians will be visiting, and I'm going to make the attempt.

Of the many problems too many Christians exhibit, the notion that any disagreement or justifiable ridicule constitutes "persecution" is the worst because it's so self-perpetuating.

I mean, according to Christians, being "persecuted" (although, as others have pointed out, American Christian fundamentalists would deny their God so fast it'd make our heads spin if they ever encountered any REAL persecution) validates their beliefs. So y'all really oughta be grateful that people "persecute" you. You can't complain about the thing you believe your God tells you will happen to you if you're a true follower, ya know?

The other notion that's so problematic is that your God supposedly bestowed us all with free will, yet you spend far too much of your time doing your best to deny free will to those around you.

It's the Christians who deny Christ that get mocked.

Excuse me, but you do realize bombarded by things you can walk away from is not anything near the same as singled out, slandered (truly slandered, mind, not simply having someone say something not positive about you/God), preached at against our will (sometimes at our homes), having our motivations questioned (or more often, you assume motivations we do not have), trying to get legislation passed that favors your religion and nobody else (especially where it seeks to limit the freedom of other people more than just religiously). . . shall I continue? And I'm still not going to claim persecution, unlike you guys, like you're doing RIGHT NOW as you attack us with false accusations and just plain outright lying in your comparison of our situations.

We're not trying to make Christians or any other religious group go away. We're just so tired of being told things like "you're atheist because you don't want to believe in God" or "evolution is just a theory", so tired that when we hear it for the 150th time in a week sometimes yes we feel like swearing. We don't feel threatened by gods. It is very difficult to feel threatened by or hate something one doesn't believe in. We feel "threatened" (that's your word, perhaps eternally frustrated would be a better fit though) by people like you, Carico.

Among other fundies such as some Pagan ones, and even some atheists and Muslims too. So I guess it isn't persecution.

I get sworn at a lot. And Christians tend to censor things more than others. And what about destroying other belief systems? Christians did that as well.

Now secular views are of course not a religion. This however is a novel concept to fundies and in fact even many non-fundy religious people. Who consciously or subconsciously see any particular set of views as some form of religion, even if they might not define it with the word religion. Whatever someone thinks is all 'beliefs' to them. Rationality doesn't truly exist in their world, there's just a swirl of 'beliefs'.

But that said, I think its funny how he says 'they are threatened by a god who they think is imaginary.' This shows how they think. Someone couldn't possibly fear or at least dislike the hordes of delusional worshippers, who actually exist. No of course they fear their collective imaginary friend. After all, they are just doing what the voices in their head tell them too! So it must be those voices!
