I'm confused. If Democrats were, as a group, racist, than why was this campaign for their nomination (between a black man and a white woman) their closest race, um...ever? If they were, as a party, racist, one way or the other, wouldn't one candidate win by a landslide?
This sort of "ignore the actual policy, my party is righteous and the other party is EVIL!" is probably the worst thing about our two-party system. You have children that are "raised" Republican or Democrat, and their family's party is often tied to their family's religion. Thus, one party takes on all the good qualities, and the other is impossibly evil, and anyone who questions their family's party is ostracized (as I was).
