This is one thing that burns me up this country was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ our founding fathers founded this for freedom how can on one hand they say freedom of bear arms but not freedom of religion its time we go back to our roots of Christianity in England where i was on a mission trip quite a fews years ago now religion was part of there education. how can we learn about Islam and Muslims but not Christianity that our country was founded on. I think that is where the decline started when God was taken out of schools.

How can you expect to be taken seriously when you can't even use puntuation? You wrote six sentences before the first sign of a punctuation mark.
And although I enjoy wearing short sleeve shirts, I had no idea it was a constitutional right.
Oh, and BTW, freedom of religion means the right to worship -- or not worship -- any way you want. Why do you think the first English settlers came here to begin with? It was to escape the Church of England from forcing their believes on them.
I need my civics lessons refreshed: what part of the US was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
religion was part of there [sic] education
The "establishment clause" in the First Amendment of the US constitution was put in there specifically to forbid what is done in England. I think maybe Kathryn needs her civics lessons refreshed, too. That, or move to England if she prefers their way.
how can we learn about Islam and Muslims but not Christianity
The US permits public schools to teach about religions, including Christianity. But that's not what fundies want. They want the schools to indoctrinate other peoples' children in Christian fundamentalism.
I think that is where the decline started when God was taken out of schools
God wasn't taken out of schools. Kids can still pray in school as long as government employees aren't leading the prayers. Does she honestly think the whole culture of a country is determined by whether or not a teacher (who may not even be a Christian) has the children mindlessly chant the Lord's Prayer for 30 seconds every morning in a classroom?
Heads up for our NarniaFan... States that include cultural studies in their social studies standards mandate that the basic beliefs of the major religions be taught--primarily these are Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Christianity is NEVER omitted from these standards. No religion can be taught as revealed truth, better or more correct than the other, etc. And each religion must get equal coverage.
It is a lie that schools do not teach ABOUT religion. What they cannot do is proselytize.
More lyin' fer Jesus!
Wow, 7 posts before a "Treaty of Tripoli Bitch!"
You desperately need to learn grammar, punctuation, and American history something fierce. Freedom of religion was one of the primary aspects for the founding of the USA, as was the freedom of speech and right to bear arms.
Oh, and your ignorance is an insult to Narnia and Star Trek fans.
"In 1776 our fathers endeavored to retire the gods from politics. They declared that "all governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed." This was a contradiction of the then political ideas of the world; it was, as many believed, an act of pure blasphemy a renunciation of the Deity. ...It was a notice to all churches and priests that thereafter mankind would govern and protect themselves. Politically it tore down every altar and denied the authority of every "sacred book" and appealed from the Providence of God to the Providence of man."

"This is one thing that burns me up this country was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ..."
Really? Why isn't God, Jesus, Christianity, the Bible nor the Ten Commandments mentioned in ANY of our founding documents?
you sound like a retard did you know that
Christ was humanist. (See Gospel of Thomas )
Founding Fathers were humanist. (See Declaration of Independence )
Constitution guarantees "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness".
Bible guarantees...um, guarantees...oi, where's the feckin Concordance at?
Are you reclaiming freedom of punctuation and spelling?. Moreover, since you quote the OT all the time, which Gospel are you quoting?, the one which goes as "Judge not lest you'd be judged"?
This country wasn't founded on any religious text damnit.
And for the last fluxing time, it's not 'freedom to bear arms', it's 'freedom to arm bears'! Get it right!XD
Two, four, six, eight, why can't you fucking punctuate?
Also, betraying yourself as a Voyager shipper makes you look unspeakably lame. Jeri Ryan was the only decent actress on that show and she was there to be the cheesecake.
This is one thing that burns me up this country was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ
I seriously want to fucking put my head through a wall. I beg of you, please get a clue as to what the fuck you are talking about.
...our founding fathers founded this for freedom how can on one hand they say freedom of bear arms but not freedom of religion...
Just because your religion is not being forced on everybody does not mean you don't have religious freedom.
... religion was part of there education.
I heard England has some great grammar schools. Maybe you should go to one of those.
but not Christianity that our country was founded on.
Your god hates liars. Learn some history.
I think that is where the decline started when God was taken out of schools.
God was never taken out of schools. You can still pray and carry your bible.
It was bad enough just reading the quote, as chock-full of hate and ignorance as it is. Then I saw the name.
I don't care how damned lame Voyager was - you DO NOT defile Janeway's name! Or Chakotay's!
There's this new invention called "punctuation marks", why not use them to show where one sentence ends and the next begins?
You do have freedom of religion, which is why there is no religion in government; no religion should take precedence over the others.
You need to read the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Treaty of Tripoli and the letters of the Founding Fathers. You will be surprised at how ardently they all worked to keep religion OUT of government.
The decline might have started when fundies tried to put God into the schools.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
