People, for centuries, have laughed at God. But on their deathbeds, when they stare down the tunnel, is God laughing back?
If he’s not, you’ve wagered eternity against a little “fun” and come up snakeyes. Fools.

Oh, good, another mediocre rendition of Pascal's Wager. You know, except without the consideration that god might not exist.
If there is a god, he obviously has a sense of humour.
Examples:
Platypus
Human digestive system
Human reproduction system
and, let us not forget,
YOU.
I know, that if there is a god, he isn't the one that the christians are teaching, so it wouldn't do any good to follow your system anyway.
Taking it from the theist's perspective, does it really make sense that an infinitely wise and knowledgeable being would be so prone to anger, an emotion which arose via evolution because of the competitive, hostile environments we came through? What advantage does anger hold for God? A petty anger at that -- anger at a single human for simply not believing in him, when you gave the human no clear reason for doing so -- and a result that you clearly (through omniscience) saw from the beginning of time -- and, as some would say, even forced?
Or do we just imagine our gods as being beefed-up, angrier versions of ourselves?
If, when I'm dying, and staring down the so-called tunnel, and I see God laughing at me... I'd be worried as hell.
Ooh, big scary god. You can be frightened of Skydaddy all you like, but it still doesn't prove he exists.
Oh, and Pascal was a little more eloquent about it than you, Stuporman.

Ding-ding-ding! We have a winner! That's exactly right. Every religion's god's are "super" versions of themselves. Well, except for Buddah, but then he really existed and he was fat. It's the same thinking that applies to stories and movies. The hero is bigger than life, the bad guy twirls his moustache. They are caricatures. But before people made movies, these stories became real in people's minds. Legend began and suddenly these stories were used to "explain" things that people didn't understand, which at the time, was a LOT.
People, for centuries, have laughed at Allah. But on their deathbeds, when they stare down the tunnel, is Allah laughing back?
If he’s not, you’ve wagered eternity against a little Christian “fun” and come up snakeyes. Fools.
People, for centuries, have laughed at The Flying Spaghetti Monster. But on their deathbeds, when they stare down the noodly appendages at his meatballs of doom, is The Flying Spaghetti Monster laughing back?
Probably. He's not a humourless gimp like God.
But, if he’s not, you’ve wagered eternity against a little “fun” and come up lasagne.
Fools.
Fools.
FOOLS!!!
Muh ha ha ha haaaa
I can only speak for myself, but I just spent three days in two hospitals, "staring down the tunnel", and still had no will, desire, or inclination to change my mind.
Dude, if you only knew what "fun" we've been having, you wouldn't even miss Him...
The Devil (Rowan Atinson): Christians! Christians! Yes, if you could all line up over here, please... Terribly sorry, it seems the Jews were right after all...
I understand that religion is largely motivated by the fear of death. And we all can empathize with that. Certainly I have prayed with people who were sick and in pain simply because it brought them comfort, whatever my personal opinion.
But taking pleasure in the idea that unbelievers are going to be tortured for eternity by a vengeful god is sadism on a level that's hard to stomach.
Jehane -
i've never noticed unbelievers having much fun, though they try to convince themselves of that.
Hmm... My first guess is that you weren't trying very hard to find any. Check out the Skepchicks reviews of TAM5. If you're old enough, that is. A rather corrupting influence, them!
they try to laugh it off, and scoff at the idea, but they are really miserable.
I think you may have to redeifne "miserable" for us, kiddo! Your version and mine have very little in common.
i've been in that tunnel, and i've seen the other side.
Seen the other side of a tunnel? Do you mean out the other side? Or the difference between inside and outside? Or do you just need work on your metaphors?
God is real, and i'm grateful to be His.
A natural born masochist! Congratulations on your new-found lifestyle!
i pity the unbelievers,
You stole that! I'm telling Mr. T!
with their empty lives and broken hearts.
*cue weepy violins*
they are only going through the motions;
In, out, repeat as necessary?
for them dying is just a formality, they were never really alive.
Ah, spoken like a true zombie. Don't worry about your willpower, or interest in life, or differing thoughts or opinions. God will look after that for you!
I'm in sky blue.

Does God laugh?

Bad logic. This is called "Pascal's Wager . You laugh at Allah but will Allah be laughing back? You laugh at Dionysus but will Dionysus laugh back?
Anyway, the Atheist's wager is much better.
Per Jehane:
i've never noticed believers having much fun, though they try to convince themselves of that. they try to laugh it off, and scoff at the idea, but they are really miserable. i've been in that tunnel, and i've seen the other side. God is a myth, and i'm grateful not to consider myself the property of a myth. i pity the believers, with their lives wasted on a myth and broken hearts. they are only going through the motions; for them dying is just a formality, they squandered their lives. There. Fixed it for you.
Confused?
