It takes two to keep a shitty relationship going: one to abuse, and one to not take action.
When ONE person betrays the other, whether by cheating or by beating or by whatever other means, that ONE person has ruined the relationship. Even if the second person stays, it does not necessarily follow that the relationship remains intact.

As an atheist, my relationship with god has been ruined. So, according to you, it is as much god's fault as it is mine.
