[George] Tiller was killed by a schizophrenic. I'm not even going to go into how they're usualy nontheists.

I'm sure you'll be perfectly happy to explain how schizophrenia and nontheism are connected.
Citation seriously needed, fuckhead.
George Tiller's killer, Scott Roeder, was diagnosed as having schizophrenia. Shelley Shannon, who shot Dr Tiller 15 years previously, was just a normal anti-abortion fanatic. She was inspired by Michael Griffin, a normal anti-abortion fanatic who murdered Dr David Gunn.
If you want to look at the association of religion and schizophrenia, perhaps you should look at the 44,100 references to scientific papers and books on Google Scholar. Atheism and schizophrenia, by contrast, gets 2,820 references.
Scott Roeder.
(emphasis added):
'The Montana Freemen were a Christian Patriot movement based outside the town of Jordan, Montana. The members of the group referred to their land as "Justus Township" and had declared themselves no longer under the authority of any outside government '
You right-wing Fundamental ist Christians always go on & on about how you are 'In this world, but not of it', do you not? Also, how you have a direct line with the Man Upstairs via the 'Holy Spirit' whenever you pray...?
...nah, couldn't be purely your own internal dialogue: a sure sign of Schizophrenia , eh C(ompletely Loony)?! [/Doug Piranha-levels of sarcasm]
Can you say 'Joan of Arc'? I know you can. After all, you cannot say the word 'Fundamentalist Christian' without the word Mental .
I think Friedrich Nietzsche said it best (quote):
''A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything. '
Moral: Frankly, there are people with worse psychological afflictions out there who wouldn't so much as think of doing what Scott Roeder & all his fellow fundie ilk did, who have a better grasp of Reality than you lot. I know who I'd rather trust.
Schizophrenics can make reasoned decisions based upon their opinions if they're not having a psychotic episode or are being treated.
Even if he was out of his mind at the time, who filled Roeder's mind, and the minds of all the other murderous anti-abortion fanatics with their stupid ideas about cells being babies?
How about Bill O'Reilly and Hannity being on Fox News, constantly telling lies about Tiller and referring to him, a fucking HERO, as "Tiller the baby killer"?
How about the fundie religious zealot prosecutor who tried twice to put Tiller in prison for murder when he had saved lives and broken no laws?
What's your excuse for them?
@Ebon
"Schizophrenia, and all other mental illnesses, affect religious and non-religious people in roughly equal number. "
I've got to disagree with you on this. It seems to me that someone who is schizophrenic, and hearing voices, will be far more likely to become religious as a result.
Radical, pro-life, fundamentalist Christian kills abortion clinic.
It was probably an atheist.
yes, the mentally ill can't possibly be true Christians! God wouldn't allow it.
I'm glad you didn't "go into" it further. It would've likely been sickening.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
