The world's numerous religions are evidence for the spiritual source of our conscious human awareness.

That's what I always wondered myself. I had to attend some substance abuse meetings a while back, and they gave me the usual AA line about believing in a higher power, even after I told them I wasn't religious at all, and I think they even said something about "being spiritual but not religious." I kind of let it go at that at the time, but I really was thinking to myself "what the hell does that even mean?"
"Friendship is Magic" is also evidence for the supposed spiritual source of our conscious human awareness then. Apparently gorillas have that same "awareness" too, as gorillas who have been taught sign language have shown awareness of their own deaths and wanting to believe in some higher power.
Or, people just wanted some form of explanation for things in the world they could not, at that time, understand. As we now have the actual scientific explanations for most of those things, religions are no longer needed.
The less educated you are, the more you want the simple answers of religion. Hence the actions of Betsy DeVos [spit].
I've known a few 12-steppers, and the way they dropped their dependency is by
latching onto another one; another crutch. A "higher power" than themselves,
and some of the time it's Jesus, which I see as being every bit as harmful.
Some of my relatives were better people (IMHO) when they were normal everyday junkies,
before they got addicted to their invisible friend. I've gotten out from under
several habits, (alcohol, tobacco, opioids*) not by thinking I had to rely on woo,
but by knowing I'm the only one who can do it, and I must do it for me, not
somebody else's idea of a greater force.
* Hey - Opioids - isn't that the kid from Mayberry?
“The world's numerous religions are evidence for the spiritual source of our conscious human awareness.”
And people pleading with their cars to please, please, please start on a winter morning show that religion develops from our pscyhe’s needto assign agency. It’s also why we supply the dog’s side of a discussion. And attempt to negotiate with random chance.
Confused?
