It just seems to me that slavery then and now are surprisingly similar.
Slaves weren’t held by fences or guns, they were held by a sense of security, ignorance of the far horizons, they were fed and clothed. I once read that runaway slave hunters were far more effective at intimidating slaves on the plantations than actually capturing escaped slaves.
Today they have the security of the democrat party, EBT, cards and welfare. Any black person audacious enough to flee the democrat plantation gets a very public flogging from the left.

Yes, they wanted security... Bull-fucking-shit. They wanted to be free, nothing else. And their owners ensured that nobody fled the real plantation.
And stop saying Democrat Party you fucking imbecile. There is no such thing. There is only a Democratic Party, named by Thomas Fucking Jefferson.
I've been known to vote for members of the "Democrat Party" from time to time, but no one ever mentioned where I'm supposed to get all of my free stuff.
Does it come in the mail?

Yup. White flight, voter disenfranchisement, a "photo ID" law that's basically a poll tax on steroids, oodles of ways for the RepubiCUNTs to fuck with the urban poor... oh wait, that's not what you meant?
"democrat party" "democrat plantation"
Its name is the Democratic Party, you imbecile.
I'll tell you what. You become my slave and you can have free security, food and clothing. Since it's such a great deal, I'm sure you'll be jumping at the opportunity.
The conservative position on poverty, as exemplified by Yzma:

Slaves were, and are, held by fear of violence against themselves or their families. If your mother, wife or daughter risk being raped if you don't obey orders, you do obey orders.
Isn't the Democratic Party liberal? It's a center-right ideology, not a left one.
Public floggings? You mean like some Teabaggers berate Obama for having the audacity to be black?
"Slaves weren’t held by fences or guns, they were held by a sense of security"
You mean that "sense of security" in the bible that says a slave owner can beat the slaves whenever he wants for whatever reason he wants as long as the slaves don't die in a day or two? If they take three or more days to die, then it's ok. That kind of "security"?
The majority of EBT recipients are white and are members of a working household (at least one person in the house is holding down a job to support the family). Over 90% of welfare assistance goes to the severely disabled, the elderly and working households. Over 65% of welfare recipients use welfare for less than 5 years (1/3 for 12 months or less). The majority of EBT/welfare recipients are not lazy people looking for a free handout, they are responsible people who need assistance just to survive.
"Any black person audacious enough to flee the democrat plantation gets a very public flogging from the left."
Any black person audacious enough to flee the republic gulag gets a very public shot in the back.
*Yawn* False equivalence. Come on now, this is bush league stuff, Free Republic. It may convince the 70 year old WASPS that make up the Tea Party, but you have to try harder when you're not preaching to the quire.
If those “runaway slave hunters” were staying on the plantation instead of actually going after the runaway slaves, it’s no wonder they weren’t very effective at it
@Arctic Knight:
Don’t you ruin the right-wing narrative with those pesky facts! Everyone knows that welfare only goes to black welfare queens called Latifah, who are single moms while their baby daddy sits in jail, and they live from that welfare money like royalty, what with their Obamaphones and everything!
Stating that slaves were fed and clothed isn’t a fucking argument. Of course they fed them, they needed them to be, ya know, ALIVE to work. And they indeed weren’t held by cages or guns, but constant death threats. They were ignorant to the outside of the plantations, that is true. The fact they were beaten if they tried to learn about ANYTHING might have something to do with that.
Fear was their cage and I know the bars too well. I'm not so arrogant as to compare my prison to the sheer scale of theirs but I can understand enough to loathe your raw ignorance.
You wouldn't know reality if it slapped you in irons and sold you at a market.
Confused?
