Kasich is the first candidate to be scratched off my list. He went to a "wedding" of same-sex twosome. If he was a real Christian, he should have said there is no such thing and stayed home. Seems to be too spineless and wishy-washy when it comes to the truth.

He was about the only one that I respected after that debate.
I take it your ideal candidate would be a reality denier. What if he had gone to an inter-racial marriage?
You make a good case for revamping the whole religious test for holding public office. Maybe the US should have one - if you hold that any holy book is literally true, if you want to govern based on 2,000+ year old superstitions, then you are barred from holding office. Only rational thinkers allowed.
He had enough backbone to do what he thought right instead of pandering to the lowest of the low among voters. That being said, I've plenty of REAL reasons to be apprehensive about his candidacy...
Edited to clarify those real reasons: I'm in Ohio, and he has balanced the budget by almost destroying public education at all levels and strongly supports the almost universally failing charter school system. He wants to privatize prisons, roads, all sorts of public facilities, thus removing accountability. He's managed to pass laws forbidding towns from passing their own law to regulate fracking, and has raced to issue drill permits first, evaluate the problems last. He was one of the geniuses that bankrupted Lehman brothers, and regularly appoints his business cronies to panels that oversee public funds.
I'm going to try and coin a new term here..
Fundies law
The longer a fundie talks the more likely that they will invoke the no true Scotsman fallacy to discredit anyone else who slightly disagrees with thier point of view...
Also Kasich is an asshole

Kasich lost my vote when he made that crack about getting rid of teacher's lounges. As someone who had considered education as a career at one point, that's not even remotely funny. The reason teachers whine "woe is us", if they do at all, is because woe really is them, due in no small part to politicians like Kasich who think a silver tongue and the support of the lowest common denominator of the electorate means that he knows jack about what goes on in a classroom. Hell, pretty much the entire middle school faculty of my conservative small town with a Mennonite influence was against his union busting, so that should tell you how great he's been for the state of Ohio.
But yeah, he's pretty solidly conservative other than being friends with a gay person.
It amazes me that people are calling him reasonable.
His last idiotic comment was that he'd like to get rid of teacher's lounges so they can't commiserate about their problems. That's not only stupid, but a scary indication of what he thinks about working people.
@doubting Thomas - Various trostkyst parties work like that in France since decades.
Result : even when they make a good score(once they reached something like 7% cumulated, I think for the European elections), it's so divided that they get nearly no seat.
Kasich seemed like one of the better option for the Republicans, and that's really, really a sad reflection on you when President "Let's beat on the teachers union" is less horrible of an idea in comparison to the others.

You wouldn't know a "real Christian" if he sat on your head. Jesus said "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" and "If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor". Worrying about other people's sex life and trying to get the government to agree with you would have been way down on his list.
Constitution party. As lieberal as they may be, there aren't any other parties that are at least somewhat in line with Christian values.

That fucking John Kasich is considered a moderate this election really tells you just how far-right the Republican Party is.
But I guess he isn't far-right enough for the fundies, probably because Kasich is part of the "libertarian" part of the Republican Party that believes in capitalism first, capitalism second, and capitalism last, with zero concern for humanity. lorac odraned here is part of the religious nutjob wing of the Republicans, represented by people like Mike Fuckabee. Shit, Trump really is the guy who can unify all the idiots and crazies behind one banner of evil.
Incontinent party. As rethuglican as they may be, there aren't any other parties that are at least somewhat in line with Christian values. Good.
