teeth can change size and shape rapidly depending on diet....

I suppose if you eat stuff that cuts up your gums it might LOOK that way...
Also, I don't see the fundy in the comment...
Yeah, that would explain as to why I grew those tusks after becoming vegan...
The fundie is that this guy is trying to explain evolution away by stating that teeth can just suddenly change shape due to what you eat.
How rapid is rapidly?
EDIT: 1/5, not fundie.
If you're eating rock, maybe.
They don't really change BACK, though.
@#847275
Too late, sorry.
>_>
@Jax: Meh, there's no fundy in this. A misunderstanding of science, but no fundy.
Um ... did you read the rest of that thread? Or even this one?
Is it too much to ask that people read the thread in question before making snarky comments like this?
yes, for example if you enjoy chewing on rocks, your teeth will break up and fall out of your mouth. Certainly tooth decay is high in people with high acid or sugar diets, but this hardly constitutes rapid change in tooth shape and size.
I agree, less fundie, more stupid.
This is probably in line with the fundie shit that animals like lions were herbivores that suddenly became carnivores after the fall of adam and will once again become herbivores in the millennial reign.
They can never answer what sharks ate or other fish for that matter - seaweed?
Taking a wild guess here; after the fall or the flood or the magic whatever the T Rexes stopped eating grass and chewing their cud, and with evil intent and malice aforethought started chomping on the innocent little other animals and this is what made their teeth grow big and pointy and also doesn't evidence evolution at all.
(Route666 beat me to it)
So if I eat a steak, my mouth would be full of incisors and canine, and if I eat a salad, they turn into molars?
"teeth can change size and shape rapidly depending on diet...."
supersport, are you really that keen to join the Pseudo-Science Hall of Infamy, and have your name ranked alongside Kent Hovind & Garvan Ellison? Or are you really THAT stupid?!
Either way, bite me.
What a very cretinous statement. Extremely fundie as well. Beasts do not suddenly change their dentition because they change from being herbivores to being carnivores.
Animals don't change their teeth you lying berk (except naturally, over long periods, as they evolve, and if that evolution involves any dental change). Herbivores don't suddenly become carnivores you lying twister.
Also, dinosaurs became extinct millions of years ago, long before Homo sapiens evolved. You must be one heck of a stupid fundie if you believe otherwise, Specially in the face of so much well-documented evidence. Either that or a deceitful liar. That's a five if ever I've seen one.

Yes, actually, it is too much to ask. There should be context given with any quote submitted on this site; we shouldn't have to go hunting for the punchline. Without context, there's no way of telling at a glance whether it's fundie. And if you know your internet stats, you'll know that clickthrough rates on -anything- are pretty abysmal. Don't ask FSTDT readers to do your work for you.
That would be pretty badass you gotta admit.
People who eat more meat would have bitchin' fangs and teeth kinda like wolves or lions, while vegetarians would have more flat teeth.
It'd be pretty cool.
Doesn't exist in real life though
Confused?
