Maybe GOD should have held back Katrina until there was 150,000 gays in the French Quarter and HE would have gotten rid of all of them in one fell swoop.

If god really wanted to get rid of the gay he could, couldn't he? Why does he need a hurricane and to kill a shitload of straight christians?

Kind of odd how God sends natural disasters at the people in areas where its already known that said natural disasters can and will occur on a regular, sometimes bluntly measurable basis. Like, there's loads of gays in England, but the UK never seems to get hit with an earthquake or a tsunami or hurricane.
Besides which, if 'teh gayz' were really what he was after, don't you think any sort of super-being would simply be able to just strike the gays dead where they stand?

Well, we don't get tsunami ( unless you count the Severn Bore ) but we do get Earthquakes and Tornadoes, just really feeble ones, perhaps our gays just aren't gay enough to upset the Almighty. Or, He, She or it doesn't give a damn my dear !
Can you just imagine these fundamentalist churchs after a disastor? Those who died or were severly injured MUST have done something to anger God and are not worthy of their respect anymore, you know that mentality thinks that way, it's their dogma. Any rationalizing those deaths, or not applying the churchs, preachers, family pets destruction to the same critera is two-faced hipocracy.
Instead, Katrina hit the poorest sections of the city with disproportionate force, devastating them while leaving most of the French Quarter and the wealthier sections of the city largely intact.
What conclusions can we draw from this?
(1) God has really lousy aim;
or:
(3) Katrina was a purely natural phenomenon, essentially a heat engine powered solely by the temperature difference between the ocean and the atmosphere, controlled solely by the Coriolis Effect and the laws of physics and under no conscious control at all. The poorest sections of the city were devastated because they were the poorest-built to begin with and located in the lowest, least desirable portions of a city that was already mostly below sea level. The people living in those areas were often unable to leave easily because they didn't have vehicles of their own, or decided to shelter the storm in place because they had successfully done so before, and might have done so successfully here except that the poorly-maintained levee system choose that particular storm to fail.
