You first have to know the teachings of Christ to know what we follow. And considering that Jesus himself was the first fundamentalist because he authored scripture as John 1:1-2, and John 1:14 tells us, then again you are in error, as usual. And considering that atheists don't even believe that God exists, then of course they cannot speak knowledgably at all about God. They therefore don't even know who Jesus is. So all this forum shows is the ignorance of atheists.

I know of people who know everything that can be known about various fictional universes: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Warcraft, the Matrix. None of these exist.
This shows it is possible to know a lot about something even if you don't believe any of it is real. Such as god.

I have some more John for you, Carico.
His Apocryphon, dug up in Nag Hammadi...
I dare you to read it. Double-dare!
"...The creator god, the one who claimed in evolving orthodox dogma to have made man, and to own him, the god who would have man contingent upon him, born ex nihilo by his will, was a lying demon and not God at all. Gnostics called him by many deprecatory names: "Saklas", the fool; "Ialdebaoth", the blind god; and "Demiurge", the architect or lesser creative force...." [from Intro. to Gnosticism]
As opposed to CARM, which would show ignorance of everything .
Don't assume that we don't understand the Babble just because we're atheists (well, most of us are). It's because we've read your little holy book that we choose to not believe in it.
And considering that atheists don't even believe that God exists, then of course they cannot speak knowledgably at all about God.
Atheists probably don't believe Lilliput or Brobdingnag exist, either; but that doesn't keep them from speaking knowledgeably about Swift.
Carico wouldn't know the teachings of Christ if they bit her. Fundamentalism is a twisted, distortion of Christianity at best. And what the hell is all this about Jesus authoring scripture?! Jesus didn't author a goddamn thing, the authors supposedly spoke for Jesus but there's absolutely nothing that proves that concretely. And he was no fundamentalist, he was Jewish and judging from the company he kept he didn't so much mind being around the "sinners." In fact, it seems in some instances that he was the life of the party.
1.) Therefore, we non-atheists should be able to "speak knowledgably about God," according to your definition, even if we're not fundie Christians...eh?
2.) I know who Jesus is. I just don't think he's the Son of God. And frankly, your Scriptures don't necessarily support the conclusion that he is God's Son.
3.) I know more about the Star Trek universe than any healthy human being should, but I don't believe for a second that actual Vulcans are about to land in my backyard. Likewise, I know quite a bit about the Gospels, but I don't believe that Christians have the one true right and only answer. Sorry.
So because I don't believe in the existence of Galactus, the Celestials, Eternity, and the Living Tribunal, that means I know nothing about Marvel comics?
Jesus himself was the first fundamentalist because he authored scripture
Arguably true (although, if he even existed, he never actually "authored" anything, it was all written long after he died, but that's just arguing semantics) but that fundamental principle he "authored" was undeniably one of what you would call "liberalism".
I imagine you'll be going into shock around about now.
Brain in a Jar, Fundies aren't Christians, Jesus is far too liberal and loving for them. They are Paulines, they follow Paul so they can be hypercritical and self-righteous. Love your last line though!
Carico, this time you have go beyond all limits. They have read the book you speak about, so they can speak with authority. It´s just that it doesn´t convince them the way you think they should. Second, was Jesus the first fundamentalist of what "fundaments"?. Do you know what you´re speaking about?
So, stop critisising Islam, since you don't believe in it. And Jesus the first fundamentalist?, good luck explaining how he could be fundamental about a religion which didn't exist yet.
So then Christians won't discuss science, Pagan religions, history, or anything but Christianity? Or are you a hypocrite? If so you might want to read your Bible
How many discovered the empty tomb first and spread the news?
@Jezebel's Evil Sister
Ha, Classic. They often phone into Atheist Experience and try to tell the host they don't understand the Bible or Jesus at all. It's a hoot because they can be tripped up on Biblical knowledge quite fast by the hosts sometimes.
Carico has been featured here a lot and shown her Biblical knowledge is dismal, even worse tham Jerrys or His4Lifes. Being a Fundamentalist seem to be an insistence they know the Bible better than anyone while never looking at it much.
Confused?
