Let's see, the atheist would probably treat with equality, respect, and love, while the Muslim fundy would shame her, deprive her of freedoms, and can pretty much forget about her and marry some younger women whenever he feels like.

A much greater misconseption is that "faith in God is a god thing", which it's not!
This may very well be a poe, but it's still a sad reminder of the way America perceives atheists. There are many Americans who would sooner put their trust in a religious person of an unspecified faith than an atheist, simply because the former has faith. It doesn't matter that the faith may be put in something horribly outlandish, or that it runs directly counter to the Christian faith, or that Christian doctrine says that all non-Christians go to Hell anyway, regardless of faith. For some reason, that "faith" qualifier still seems to elicit more trust.
Psychosis > nihilism. Riiiight.
Atheists have faith and morals as well. Faith in human goodness, and humanist morals. And we don't need the guilt trip to get us going.
So you would rather your daughter marry someone who would kill you, and her, and your wife, and your churchgoers, and anyone who happened to be near the church that day, just for believing in a "different" sky-daddy than him than an Athiest who will likely treat her with far more respect and morality than you do with your wife?
