In no way does the Bible justify slavery and racism. If anything, evolution justifies it because there are no set morals. Some people have used evolution as a mechanic to say that black people are evolutionarily inferior. The Bible teaches that we're all people, we're all sinners, anyone can be saved.
The crap that people pull from the Bible that says it supports slavery and racism is all twisted and doesn't show an understanding of the context or the times.

CONTEXT.... meaning, parts of the Bible aren't literal or are products purely of the life and times of the HUMANS writing it...
Er, aren't you one of those that believes the Bible is the literal word of God, and not humans?
Evolution has no opinion on morals one way or the other, it's not within its scope.
"Some people have used evolution as a mechanic to say that black people are evolutionarily inferior."
That would only be true if they were dying out, and then it doesn't justify any idiotic political action. Anything done in the name of evolution besides scientific experiments is not following it accurately.

You're doing the same with evolution.
"The crap that people pull from the Bible that says it supports slavery and racism is all twisted and doesn't show an understanding of the context or the times."
Right, so slavery and racism were okay back then, but the Bible doesn't mean that anymore.
Sure, and the heliocentrism justifies murders and rape because it contains no set morals either.
NB: Isn't there a black character in the bible called Ham who's been curse and who slavers used to justify slavery?
If your god is "the same yesterday, today and forever," as you like to claim, then why didn't he tell people slavery was wrong 3,000 years ago and save maybe a billion people lives of agony? Why would an almighty being have to fuss over what society was mature enough to handle isn't he in charge of that too?
Or are you just pulling lame excuses out of your ass?
"In no way does the Bible justify slavery and racism."
Either you haven't read the bible or your attempting to revise history.
"If anything, evolution justifies it because there are no set of morals."
Evolution is a science, not a code of ethics nor a theology. Does the theory of gravity also justify slavery? After all gravity has no morals.
U N R E A L.
Perhaps some racists have used evolution to say that non-whites are inferior and they were most likely right wing conservative nut jobs like yourself. Evolution only explains why some people are white and some are brown, it makes no moral judgements. It takes narrow minded bigots, again like yourself, to determine who is superior and inferior.
"The crap that people pull from the Bible that says it supports slavery and racism is all twisted and doesn't show an understanding of the context or the times. "
You're right. The context was that wealth and prestige was based on slvery, so the christianists mined the bible for quotes that supported slavery, then declared god to be in favor of it. 150 years later the christianists are still playing the same game.
Evolution doesn't offer morals any more than osmosis does.
It's not an alternative to religion- it's just a scientific theory. Besides- people that have "used evolution as a mechanic to say that black people are evolutionarily inferior" can't have understood the theory- black people have still been evolving after white people split off.
If a white person thinks that evolution makes black people inferior, they should go and stand in the desert sun for a few hours- with no sunscreen.
Fundy Word Redefinition Project:
twist, v.t. to quote (a Bible verse) that contradicts what I want to believe.
@Bored One Time Poster
White people havent really "split off". Skin color is just different alleles of the same gene. To say we split off implies that we have different genetics. There is no difference, no difference AT ALL, between the genomes of blacks and caucasians.
Again, anyone that is using evolution to imply that any particular phenotypic manifestation is superior to any other has no clue what the fuck they are talking about.
You are probably a minority of one in this belief. The bible was used to justify the slavery of the blacks in the southern states. More recently to oppress and enslave the blacks in Apartheid in South Africa.
"Some people have used evolution as a mechanic to say that black people are evolutionarily inferior." Er, actually it was the Bible they used. Evolution, please. (Changing the spelling is quite stupid. It changes nothing, especially your red neck.)
Slavery and racism were both intermingled and justified by the test of that most unholy of books. Incontroverible.
There are numerous passages in the bible, both old and new testaments, that describe the rights of the slave owner and the rights of the slave. If the slave was a Hebrew, and male, he had a few rights. If not then the slave had none. The slave owner, had the right to beat his servants, sell his servants, kill his servants, and to fuck his servants. This is all spelled out in the bible many times. Anus has obviously never read the bible.
So, because some idiots have misunderstood evolution and made racial slurs using it as evidence, it must be evil? I still don't follow, next idiotic statement please.
Bigots try use evolution to say some ethnic groups are better than others. Scientists, sane persons, and non-fundies don't.
Morals have no place in evolution. Morals aren't for fundies alone. But fundies need threat of BIG BAD in the sky watching them to make them behave.
Some people have used evolution as a mechanic to say that black people are evolutionarily inferior.
Ironically, it never seems to be the ones that actually BELIEVE in evolution.
@Old Viking
Of course they do. As our good friend illustrated, they berate you for taking the quote out of context, and huff about REALLY learning to read the Bible.
It doesn't support slavery?, WTF does it mean that verse in Deuteronomy which says that you should acquire slaves only from neighbouring countries?, and what about those who used the old curse of Ham to justify racism?
The only real North American x-ian nation--the Confederate States of America (which explicitly sited the Bible in its constitution)--used said Bible AS ITS FUNDAMENTAL SOURCE FOR THE DEFENSE OF SLAVERY.
You don't just fail, you suck as a human being.
*wipes foam from chin*
There are specific verses in the Bible that give instructions on how to own slaves.
"The crap that people pull from the Bible that says it supports slavery and racism is all twisted and doesn't show an understanding of the context or the times."
Of course, when someone tries to use the same logic to give women equality in the church or against Biblical condemnation of homosexuality, the fundies cry "lukewarm".

I cannot find any mention of the Bible in the Confederate constitution.
I did, however, find a mention of "almighty God" in its preamble:

Clearly, _NFK_ has never read the Bible. Leviticus has explicit instructions about how to treat slaves, how to beat them and the rules about having sex with them
Or if _NFK_ is a Christian who believes Jesus overturned the OT law then Luke 12, the parable of the faithful and unfaithful servants (slaves) might be a good read. Colossonians 3 is particularly nasty too:
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ.
In no way does the Bible justify slavery...
Leviticus 25:44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.
25:45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.
25:46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever:
Hey, look, everyone! Jehovah is commanding His people to puchase slaves.
question: if "context" and "times" matter, then how is the Bible still relevant today? this drives me crazy. these fundies say that the Bible is timeless and is a code of morality still in use today, but at the same time, point out anything that is backwards and they'll tell you it was FORWARDS and progressive for that point in time. so is it static or not? useful today or not? STOP PUSSY-FOOTING
In no way does evolution theory justify slavery and racism. If anything, the Bible justifies it because there are instructions in it about how to keep slaves. Some people have used passages from the Bible as a mechanic to say that black people are inferior and cursed. Evolution theory shows us that we're all people with almost identical genotypes.
The crap that people pull from the theory of evolution that says it supports slavery and racism is all twisted and doesn't show an understanding of the nature of scientific theories.
^ Fixed.
"In no way does the Bible justify slavery and racism."
Never read the damn thing, have you?
No matter, it's forged anyway.
Confused?
