Besides, Christianity isn't a religion.
[Christianity isn't a religion?]
Not at all. At least, not like others. This can be seen by looking at the words we use for modern religions: animism, buddhism, hinduism, taoism, mohommedism, judaism, communism, capitalism, humanism, secularism, conservatism, liberalism, libertarianism.
What do these words all have in common? They are all isms. An ism is an ideology, a world view. It is a lense which filters all we see to conform to the lense we have chosen.
Christianity is not an ism.

So baptism is a religion, but the words piety, nativity, trinity and deity have nothing to do with religion?
Wow! Making up silly word games is fun!
Animism, buddhism, hinduism, taoism, mohommedism and judaism are not modern.
Communism, capitalism, humanism, secularism, conservatism, liberalism and libertarianism are not religions.
Build better pigeonholes.
Okay, kids, the secret word for today's show is "Christianism".
Wikipedia says:
Christianism may refer to:
* Christianity, or its theory and practice
* Dominionism, political activism based on conservative Christian principles
* Christendom
Can you tell me what Christianism ends with? Very good, I knew you could! :)
That means Gay is a religion too, because rainbows can be made by a prism!
I suppose vegetarianism is a religion, too. Not to mention empiricism. Neologism? Is that a religion? Suppose so. Witticism, too. Oh, those jokers that worship at the Temple of Wittic! They're so much more fun than the Criticists. You know, those people whose religion is Criticism. Cubism and Impressionism are both religions, too, as we all know loads of people who worship artists of both schools. Worshippers in the Churches of Heroism and Voyeurism are known for being extremely devout, but I'd love to know who the fuck is worshipping botulism.
And I say we rename Christianity to make it sound more like a religion, but for the sake of brevity with all these ism's around, we'd better name it after only the first initial of the Christian messiah: Jism.
"Capitalism" is a modern religion? So, is paying interest the equivalent of tithing, or what? And "secularism" -- isn't that by definition the very opposite of religion?
Oh, and he tried to get around "Islam" by using the outdated -- and, to Muslims, offensive -- term "Mohammedanism" (and misspelling it) instead.
The rest I'll ignore, since it's just so stupid I can't be bothered to deal with it further. Basically this is just profoundly obtuse.

In the immortal words of Ferris Bueller:
"Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, 'I don't believe in The Beatles, I just believe in me.' Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people."
Christism...
I guess it could work
Oh, and of course, by that logic Protestantism and Catholicism are religions, so the whole thing's pretty much self-failing.
Is there a word for being horribly horribly wrong that ends in ism?
If so, that's the award we've gotta give for this.
Islam, Wicca, Druidry, Voodoo, Kabbalah, Asatru. None have -ism in it to name a few. The only possible exception is Asatru since it can be called Odinism as well, but there is no -ism when called Asatru. Fail.
There is a Christianism. Christianity was the name given to the group of countries that, in the middle ages, have Christianism as their official religion. You see, if it's all a matter of language and grammar.................
...plagiarism, astigmatism, photojournalism, embolism...
Here's a relevant one: MALAPROPISM
...spoonerism, nudism, albinism, cannibalism, baptism, cynicism, tourism, magnetism...
I find myself hoping that Anonymous will choke on his own stupidity.
Also, if Christianity isn't a religion, the US government would like to revoke that tax-free status.
Altruism, secularism, atheism, absurdism, absolutism, agnosticism, antipedobaptism, deism, eudaemonism, hedonism, illusionism, millenarianism, nativism, optimism, pessimism, panzoism, pantheism, realism, stoicism, vitalism, tuism, titanism.
Ignorantism. Yes, that is a word!
"modern religions: animism, buddhism, hinduism, taoism,"
But in particular...judaism.
Communism, capitalism, humanism, secularism, conservatism, liberalism and libertarianism are not religions, although they can be classified as belief systems.
I think this people should actually read the meaning of the words they use.
All of those are far older than christianity...
Also:
Chris`tian`ism
1. The Christian religion.
2. The Christian world; Christendom.
You said it yourself; those are ideologies, not religions. Well, most of them anyway. Hinduism, Taoism and Judaism are religions, and maybe Buddhism too.
Modern religions, btw? Judaism is much older than Christianity.
Christianism. There, now it's an ism.
From Wikipedia: Religion (from O.Fr. religion "religious community," from L. religionem (nom. religio) "respect for what is sacred, reverence for the gods,"[4] "obligation, the bond between man and the gods.)
It seems that having gods is a crucial part of a religion.
Confused?
