Well for one my friend, gays do not possess any immutable characteristics and do not have a long-standing widespread documented history of discrimination or oppression in this country. Gays are not victims.

He's right, christians have faced nothing but hardships and we should focus on just them and their problems. To hell with the gays, native americans, blacks, muslims, women in general and every other group that has faced actual discrimination in history.
Actually, being gay IS an immutable characteristic. If you have evidence to refute this, please cite it. Note that anecdotal references, especially those of the "well, I heard of this one guy..." sort are not scientifically significant. Also note that "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" is not especially helpful either.
Matthew Shepard, Paul Broussard, Nizah Morris, Nireah Johnson, and Gwen Araujo all would like a word with you.
"do not have a long-standing widespread documented history of discrimination or oppression in this country. "
How do you reconcile this with "societies have realised since the dawn of time that homosexuality is destructive to that society. I.E. we have always beat up homos so we should still do it."?
You haven't been paying attention to the recent gay suicides, have you, Jitney? Oh, that's right, you don't care.

You can't be serious.
"Gays are not victims."
You can't be very smart, either.
How far back do we need to go to refute the "long-standing widespread documented history of discrimination" that you seek? Keep in mind that homosexuality was on a plane with witchcraft in the 1600's. The sodomy laws that existed practically from day 1 have only started to come off the books in recent years, and the fact that homosexuality was, until only about 20 or 30 years ago, considered a mental disorder ought to be a good start.
And that's even ignoring the biblical justifications for homophobia.
Um, yeah.

About that...
Wat?
I guess being dragged behind pickup trucks, or tied to a fence in a field and left for dead isn't discrimination after all. Those who have died that way weren't victims, they brought it on themselves because they wouldn't change who they were.
I have the sneaking suspicion that if asked to defend this idea he'd try and claim that being arrested, harassed, insulted, ostracized and outright killed for being gay doesn't count as discrimination.
I also bet he'd say it's because it's not discriminatory if they deserve it.
Bet's anyone? Will he follow the tired routine of insanity and stupidity to the usual end or surprise us with something so stupid we could have never guessed it.

FIXED! (And in a completely historically accurate and non-satirical way too. Jitney must have the shiniest mirror that anybody has ever before seen.)
Hmmm, then "smear the queer" must be a new flavor of cream cheese and "fag drag" must refer to pulling large bundles of sticks. When fundies say they don't want "gay marriage" they must mean that they don't want any happy marriages, which actually goes a long way in explaining why they have the highest divorce rate. Thanks for clearing that all up for me.
That's utopia. Since there is no cause for discrimination against homosexuals, they should not be discriminated. Let's face it; the Bible barely mentions them, and according to it, homosexuality is on the same level as eathing shellfish or wearing clothes of mixed fabrics (and we don't discriminate against shellfish-eaters or polyblend-wearers, do we?).
Wait... We are not living in utopia, Jitney, dear. We are living in reality, where small, petty people prey on the weak, to feel stronger themselves.
Well for one my friend, gays do not possess any immutable characteristics...
Except for, y'know, their sexuality.
...and do not have a long-standing widespread documented history of discrimination or oppression in this country.
It's easy for a gay person to hide amongst the public, since being gay isn't obvious. But in every instance where they've been found out, they end up getting severely marginalized (or killed).
In conclusion, shut up.
/sarcasm
Yeah, we need to have WAY MORE suicides, beatings, bullying at school and work, but that's not enough. A few mass killings of GLBTs need to occur first, then MAYBE society will accept our victim status. But only if enough of us died.

That's what you're saying, right? That things aren't bad enough already? FUCK YOU.
So people like Fred 'Fucknuts' Phelps are doing what? Conversing civilly about the nature of love with the LGBT community?
And I guess the KKK didn't mean anything hurtful when they'd round up 'Jews, Queers, and Darkies' to string up and 'send 'em all to Hell together' while burning giant crosses in defense of their great nations values.
Or is your entire argument that they're not victims if YOU are glad it happened to them? If so I guess if you were mauled by vicious attack dogs we could argue against putting them down because there wasn't a real victim.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
