If you were walking in a bikini in the street, there is a high chance of getting your ass tapped and eventually getting raped. The USA is no for rape because of lack of dress code.

So you are suggesting that one's behaviour should be dictated by what some bad people MIGHT do, and if they do it, you will defend them?
I want more women walking around in bikinis, wintertime too! But I guess rapists and rape apologists want me to suffer. Well fuck you!
Also, I have no idea what your last sentence means.
(figured you were EST too when you were talking about coming home from work in the seven shades of stupid thread) Didn't say anything in case you worked nightshift on the other side of the world.
It's amazing how the more repressive and superstitious and ignorant the society, the higher the rate of sexual crimes. Imediately it stops being such a big deal and the true meaning and beauty behind it is taught with an educated message, it makes a world of difference. You still get the occaisional fuckwit who fell asleep for the first 20 years of their life and don't realise women are actually people though.
I think if you're walking in a bikini in the street, there's a much higher chance of causing a traffic accident than of getting raped.
And if a girl does get assaulted, it's not because of what she's wearing, but because of the guy's own evil. Rape is nearly always about domination and violence, rather than normal lust that just got out of hand; but even if it were the latter, it's the guy's own fault for not having better self-control, not the woman's for tempting him -- otherwise, he'd go berserk every time he went to a public swimming pool!

As I am a 6'4" tall, 330 lbs man, if I were walking around in a bikini I might get arrested for disturbing the peace, but I would NOT be raped.

What? No much write good, dude.
Are you asserting that the reason there is rape in the U.S. is because we have no dress code? Almost every community has laws concerning modesty of dress, and even if they didn't, style of dress in no excuse for rape.
The US is known for rape?
The US, within the industrialized world, is known for a high murder rate, but I don't think I've heard it suggested before that its incidence of rape is particularly high or well-publicized.
The last sentence makes no sense. Anyway, I wear bikini, my friends wear bikini, and happy we are. What´s the point?
See Rape Rates by Country
Australia, Canada and the US don't come out too well on this (#3, #5 and #9, respectively, out of the top 60). Better countries are Greece, India, Japan and a number of the former Soviet countries.
The dress code theory doesn't seem too likely. I've never heard that the Greeks have a conservative dress code. Their tourist advice on the subject of dress doesn't suggest they dress any differently than Canadians or those of any other western nation.
Most rapists don't stand around waiting for scantily-clad women to grab in dark alleys. The majority of rapes (one study says 60% to 70%) are planned in advance. In the majority of cases, the victim knew the rapist at least casually. The majority of rapes occur in the victim's or rapist's home. It seems unlikely that clothing had anything to do with it.

John: Exactly. What are they going to claim now -- that the building in which the woman lives is sexually provocative? I don't think that's the usual meaning for the slang term "brick house"!

Just because you can't see a scantily clad woman without having the desire to ravish her with or without her consent doesn't mean everyone does.
Most average straight dudes just have the desire to ravish WITH her consent.
ETA: Depending on the area one is in, the number of rape victims that know their attacker is as high as 85% (highest numbers in areas where there is a large college campus). Date and aquaintence rape is far more common than stranger or seriel rape.
They like to make stranger rape seem like the norm (though, as you say, it's not even close) because then they don't have to admit that the Boy Next Door could be a rapist. Make it the dark stranger from out of town and then it's not the community's problem.

Kinda strange for India, I remember hearing about some pretty ugly cases there. Or perhaps I'm mixing that with the cases of wives set on fire by their husbands.
Yes, because rape hardly ever happens to women who aren't wearing bikinis. Women don't get raped in winter, when everyone is bundled up in fluffy coats. And rape never happens in countries where there are strict standards of dress.
it really shits me when fundie (and even non-fundie) assholes try to blame the rape on provocative clothing. normal, red-blooded men would check her out or say obscene things, but whoever commits a rape has SERIOUS MENTAL ISSUES. Rape is not something that a "normal" person would do, period.
I wish more sexy men would walk around in speedos. Damn.
What if I had you walk down the street with "Shoot me" taped to the back of your head and then I planted sharpshooters in nearby buildings?
Besides, who gets raped walking down the street? It happens in bars and stuff.
I don't care if a woman walks down the street naked, tossing her heels into the air with every step. If a man cannot control himself enough to not rape her, the man has severe issues. Period. End of story. No more discussion.
So anytime a woman goes to a pool or beach, she should be able to get raped because she's wearing a swimsuit?
What the fuck is wrong with your ability to think rationally? Did you get dropped on your head as a baby?
Confused?
