The only people I see coerceing people to pray in a particular way are the courts. They are the ones mandating how we should pray. Thats a direct violation of the first amendment.

If you want to pray, no one is stopping you. If you want to be an idiot, no one is stopping you either, which you have made obvious, ballsfan.
The courts ARE forcing people to pray in a particular way - privately, individually and to whatever higher power you want. Yeah, that's the same as an outright ban...people like this should be required to live in Iran for a month just to see what lack of religious freedom really looks like.
Mr. Turquoise
How is "you can't tell them how or when to pray" mandating how you should pray?
Mr. Turquoise - that's not accurate. The courts have done nothing about public prayer (and should continue to do nothing about it, as it's perfectly legal to pray in public) or voluntary group prayer. The only thing they've done is say that public school officials are employed by the government and thus having them lead a prayer in school would be an unconstitutional endorsement of religion. Which is entirely true.
Crosis - yeah, "privately" was the wrong. Perhaps "autonomously" would have more accurately what I was trying to say (although, my over-simplified description would still be a bit off...). Anyway, thanks for the insight.
Mr. Turquoise
If the state passed a law forcing us to pray, that would be a violation of the first amendment "dumbass-pretending-to-be-persecuted-ballfan". BTW, what is a ballfan? Is it hand held? Do you order it out of an "Adam and Eve" catalog?
I would like to nominate ballfan for a Dittohead award! First he says the courts forbid us to pray, then says they force us to pray. No, I get what he's saying now. It's Christians who are forbidden to pray. We are all forced to pray a wiccan prayer in school and at work. The words "In Wicca We Trust" will never come off our money. ONE NATION UNDER SATAN!
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
