Reality TV star Jim Bob Duggar spent most of his speech at the Values Voter Summit imploring attendees to run for office, just like he did, in order to advance social conservative causes like an “army.”
Duggar ended the address by retelling a story about a time when Mike Huckabee and his daughter visited a concentration camp, which he used to compare the current state of the US to Nazi Germany.
“As they were walking out of that concentration camp, he said little Sarah looked up at him and she said, ‘Daddy why didn’t somebody do something?’ You know what, that’s where we are at in our nation,” Duggar said. “Do we want our children, when we’re going to tell them about how great America was, they’re going to look at you and say, ‘Why didn’t somebody do something?’”

Now, I'm not American, but it seems to be that there is someone, or something , trying to do something and it's called Republican Party. What its members were doing in the last three weeks (locking the US government) tells me they're doing a horrible job in "doing something."
I cannot tell you how sick and tired I am of people who try to use the tragic and brutal history of my country to make a cheap political point.
I will not waste any further energy on these assholes, so from now on every Godwin will just get a “Fuck you, asshole.” from me.
So, that said:
@Jim Duggar:
Fuck you, asshole.
Sorry, but your 1950's conservative utopia is never going to happen. Conservatism has basically been destroyed thanks to the Republican party. Social conservative causes are now laughed at by the majority of American voters.
So instead of trying to influence politics, why don't you go make a few more kids?
Well with a name like Jim Bob, he MUST be onto something! Like I would ever take advice from a man whose claim to fame is that he knocked up his dumbass wife 20 times & has raised a herd of useless children.
I'd also like to thank Ted Cruz for all his hard work in wasting $24B & single-handedly turning the republican party into the whig Party 2.0.
Who the fuck is Jim Bob Duggar and why should anyone be remotely interested in anything he has to say about any issue at all? The postman was just here. Should I have asked him his opinion of the Holocaust?
Jeebus, Jim Bob (you know how stupid that sounds even saying it just in your head?), why don't you go back to doing what you do best, which sounds like it might be asking tourists if they can squeal like a pig.
Yeah, why didn't somebody do something when they saw people working full time but still not earning a living wage?
Why didn't somebody do something when people die of treatable diseases because they can't get a health insurance?
Why didn't somebody do something when a few held the whole government hostage for 17 days, costing the country billions of dollars, to add to the already high debt?
People WERE doing something, people like Raoul Wallenberg, die Weisse Rose, the White Buses, and ordinary people were hiding their neighbors from the Nazis.
Just a hint; if you want to speak about horrors in the past as a warning example, don't choose people that are similar to you. Hitler was a right-wing creationist and definitely social conservative. The German society had had a long-standing aversion to Jewish people, a bit like the long-standing aversion the American society has had to dark-skinned people.
@Rob aka Mediancat:
"Mister Spak: That's Godwinning right back."
And that was the point.
"Bush was an incompetent buffoon, wrong about almost everything, and a lousy president"
Again that was the point. Bush could not have accomplished what Hitler did because of his incompetent buffooery. He fails the Hitler test almost as bad as Duggars " current state of the US ".
"but he was no more a Nazi than he was a platypus."
Actually he is. He opposes gay rights, the teaching of evolution and abortion, and was supported by racist voters, just like Nazi Germany. The fact that he made much less headway in realizing his goals doesn't lessen his resemblence to Hitler.
Perhaps a better comparison would be a junior propagandist working for Hitler. But that would be too much nuance for a fundie to process, so I just say "right back atcha, Bush and your Republic party are like Naziz."
In the archives of the US military, there exists a photo taken during a fly-over of the Auschwitz concentration camp. You can clearly see a line of people in front of a small building. Not until a couple of years later did we learn that those people were not lining up to enter a mess hall, but actually entering a gas chamber disguised as a shower. Yes, there was intelligence about the murder of people in concentration camps, but much of it was imprecise and unverifiable. Plus, they were well behind enemy lines and we didn't have drones back then.
Let's say your #1 goal is to stop the war, and air missions are incredibly risky. Do you bomb a concentration camp or try to take out a ball bearing plant? After you think about that, you can move on to contemplating Churchill's choice regarding Coventry. Sometimes leadership is about making the least bad choice.

So that explains all the kids.
As for the rest of the post, the GOP and Tea Party specifically is more like Nazi Germany. Instead of the Jews, it's the poor here. The GOP has done what the could to stigmatize those "less fortunate" and women that they're cutting themselves off from the reality and people are standing up to it and doing something about it.
You know, I'm sick and tired of american conservatives making statements that make it seem like the United State is in the only place in the world where abortions are occurring. If you are going to treat abortion like an evil, fine, but don't limit yourself to the country in which you happen to think of as special. At least include all the other countries that provide abortions as part of their medical care...and where it isn't even an issue in those countries.
If they didn't single out the United States, then I guess they couldn't make Godwin comparisons like the above quote.
Why didn’t somebody do something?
Wait. I thought the Allies won WW2. Did I miss something, or were 18 million dead Allied soldiers not good enough for the little snot?
@nazani14
Is this the death camp aerial photo in question?

(I added a direct link because it's HUGE)
Oh, to Mr. Duggar; SOMEBODY DID TRY TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE NAZIS, YOU NUSTY!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Resistance_to_Nazism
HECK, A WAR WAS FOUGHT OVER IT!
Are Nazi's in power today? Noooooooo! Oh sure, oh have a bunch of dimbulb bigot hicks & a bunch of oafs on Greece but The Nazis failed & Hitler took a one-way-lead-ballistic ticket to Inferno!
But why am I arguing with a guy who's big claim to fame is being one half of a human baby-making factory operation?!
@nazani14
While the Allies did not know the full extent of the Holocaust, they certainly knew about it. The BBC's German Service broadcast a commentary about the millions killed on Christmas Eve 1942. If you can understand German, you can listen to it here . I have another recording of a US program from 1944 which said at least two million Jews had been killed, though the FDR administration certainly knew that the figure was higher. Both Roosevelt and Churchill worried that if they gave too many details about what was known away, the Nazis would discover that the Allies had cracked their codes and were listening to their secret messages.
Huckabee runs with white supremists, they're his kinda people, Christian, bigoted and ignorant. So quoting the hypocritical liar gets you no points on anything but the gullible scale.
Duggar's probably one of those stupid fucks raising his kids on Huckabees new series of bullshit American history cartoons.
Sadly, bullshit American history has become a real productive and profitable business over the last decade, as real historical facts have been very embarrasing for Christians.
Buggargate. Buggargate II: Electric Buggarloo. Buggargate III: Revenge of the Sin .
2015 not exactly been a good year for you, has it, Joshiepoos?! [/hyper-Schadenfreude ] >:D
