They [Homo neanderthalensis] are identical [to Homo s. sapiens] in as much as Chinese are "identical" to Africans or Dutch. We are all the human kind. If you evos were intellectually honest you'd admit that according to your theory, different races of people should be classed as different "species" of humans....(just as different varieties of bears, polar, brown, black,..etc...are different species of bear.) But of course you evos are scared of political incorrectness, not to mentioned scared of being labled racists, so when it comes to humans, you drop the labels, play dumb, and hope nobody notices. I notice. And it is perfectly clear that ToE is a racist theory at its core.....scientists have long called black people monkeys. shame.

*facepalm*
Please learn basic classification.
Black bears and polar bears are still bears. They just look different. Just like humans. Just because the bear is black in stead of white doesn't mean it's not a bear any more.
As I've said before, unless it's being used to describe a Mitsubishi Lancer, the term "evo" is utterly meaningless; then again, I don't expect from Supersport very much that's meaningful.
*rates it a 5, then moves along to the next post*
scientists have long called black people monkeys.
No, racist hillbillies say that. I've never heard of a scientist saying any such thing. I do, however, know that a few hundred years ago Christians used to claim that they weren't Human/didn't have a soul, in part as justification for the slave trade.
Sigh. Genetically, the neanderthal doesn't share enough DNA with modern humans to be classified as the same species. Asians, blacks, whites, etc. may have different physical characteristics, but genetically, humans are incredibly homogenized, meaning that the differences in DNA between people of seemingly opposite races is 99.999~% the same. People of different races are capable of breeding with one another, which makes all of us the same species. A human and a neanderthal would not be able to produce a viable offspring -- ergo, different species.

Oh hello straw man.
@wackadoodle: The belief that evolutionary theory is racist (and consequent openness to and sometimes acceptance of creationism) was quite popular in liberal circles in the post-war years based on the erroneous belief that it caused the Holocaust. This clip from Jacob Bronowski's classic documentary "The Ascent of Man" debunks that better than I ever could. More recently, creationism has become so intimately associated with the far right that anyone who'd be swayed by the "evolutionary theory is racist" argument wouldn't go near it on principle. It's an irrelevant relic that just serves to show how out of touch with reality creationists actually are.
No scientist has ever called people (black or otherwise) monkeys, merely stated that 25 million years ago there lived an animal whose modern-day descendants include both humans and monkeys. The fact that Homo sapiens sapiens is one of the most genetically homogeneous of all animal species is a powerful argument against racism.
"scientists have long called black people monkeys."
Um, no, that'd be *racists*.
So much fail in so few sentences...
Recently they found enough Neanderthal dna to know they couldn't interbreed with us. But they wore clothes, made tools and buried their dead with keepsakes.
It's sad. We may have even killed them off
There are biological races, however, species is too high a classification.
Biological races have little to do with visual similarities. The divisions are made at the genetic level.
Also, several institutions are requesting the term "race" no longer be used because of the negative connotation in general vernacular.
Evolution does not place blacks at the level of monkeys.
Irony meter melt down into glowing puddle of radioactive goo.
Supertwit compares differences between Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens to differences between ethnicities? Then further elaborates by comparing said alleged differences to those separating different species of bears...and caps it all off by calling ToE racist???!??!???
Gah, my brain hurts. Make it go away.
Race is a social construct, just like ethnicity or nationality. You may as well group people by height or their chin shape, as ther is no "black gene." All humans, no matter where there from, are Homo sapiens sapiens . H. neandertalis is our closest relative, and a Yale reconstruction has refuted the common image of a brutish, club-carrying figure. They were short and husky, but the face was remarkably human.
Sorry, no. Race in humans is not a biologically valid unit. They are NOT separate species (not even subspecies!) because there aren't even barriers between populations in a lot of cases, let alone inability to reproduce (which can be due to many things if they aren't separated physically as by impassable mountains or something and humans have pretty much overcome most of those types of barriers even in antiquity -- these are things like having different breeding seasons [humans cycle continuously], having parts that don't fit [I've not heard any accounts of normal humans having this problem], having different mating rituals, or after the act maybe the female's reproductive tract is hostile to the sperm, the sperm can't fertilize the egg for some reason, the egg won't implant, or the zygote dies soon after conception). Different species of cats, bears, worms, etc. are different species because they do not naturally reproduce with one another, and often if they can the offspring are not viable in some way (like ligers are really too big for their organs; tigers and lions rarely contact each other in the wild any more and their different social habits would prevent most breeding when they do).
I have never met a scientist or any other person who works with the ToE call a black person a monkey. They do call every person apes (since that's what we are), but only racist scientists (or other people) will do that. The rest of us know that black people are just that, and it's just because they have slight variations on the genes that the rest of us do (just like all traditionally id'd people groups will). Sorry if that makes you sad *rolls eyes*.
Chinese people and black people and white people etc are all much closer genetically than most species. We suffered a bottleneck some point in the past that nearly drove us to extinction (at least that's what the molecular clock suggests.) Neanderthals are certainly not so close. They are working on sequencing that genome though. It will be interesting to see the similiarities and differences, though they have already essentially ruled out that neanderthals bred into our populations.
well, since the darkest black person and the fairest white person can reproduce children with the ability to reproduce. that would make the white person just as much a monkey as the black person. however, bears of two different species cannot successfully reproduce. and by the off chance it is successful, the offspring will be sterile. you fail at biology, go study. and STFU.
Supersport, me old fart, still confusing ethnicity with species, I see. Perhaps a brain transplant is in order.
There is more genetic variation among the population of sub-Saharan Africa then there is among the whole of the rest of mankind. And even within Africa, there is less (much less) genetic variation then there is among almost any other population of mammals on Earth. (I believe giant pandas are one of the exceptions).
AKA exactly the same?
Humans = Chinese/Africans/Dutch people...
Dogs are the best example since dogs look massively different yet are the same species.
Scientists don't call black people monkeys. Scientists don't call black people black since there is a difference between black people that's noticeable.
Different 'races' are all homo sapiens because they can all produce viable offspring.
Actually, he might have a point, Neanderthals may actually be a subspecies of homo sapiens. Doesn't mean they're the same thing.
At first, I thought this was going to be a rant about gay cavemen.
And, seeing as how it came from stuporspurt, it may well be for all I can tell.
There are still racists out there who call black people monkeys. That's not a scientist thing, or an evolution thing, it's a racist thing. Way to overgeneralize, Watersport.
i wasn't aware that either a) those bears were different species or b) they are different but could interbreed. not my fault, it's been a while since bio class. and anyway, i thought the border between species was whether or not they could interbreed? once an asian can't have a baby with a european, they can be classified as different species. until then, shut up.
Actually, In fish, one of the criteria is that if they cannot interbreed without technological interference. This includes boat transporting them to each others' native ponds. Extrapolatig tht to humanity would produce results not unlike the ones supersport is suggesting.
I usually come to the conclusion that we classify fish wrong, rather than we classify humans wrong. Supersport has come to the opposite conclusion.... go figure.
Actually, evolution proved that human beings are one species and descended from the same source.
Genetics expanded on this and proved the only differences are related to minor metabolic and cosmetic phenotypes.
And yes, they were the same GENUS, of course they would be similar! Genus =/= Species.
"If you evos were intellectually honest you'd admit that according to your theory, different races of people should be classed as different "species" of humans"
In my youth, I kept & bred Syrian & Russian hamsters, as well as mice & rats. I once tried mating a rat with a Syrian hamster. Whilst they were physically able to 'do the deed', as it were, nothing came of said pairing.
A male Chihuahua can mate with a female Irish Wolfhound (yes, even if the dynamics of such a mating seem impossible! Anyone got a step-ladder?!), and the Irish Wolfhound can give birth to a hybrid Chihuahua/Irish Wolfhound litter.
I love the smell of destroyed arguments in the morning. Smells like... victory.
Confused?
