Don't speak too soon. We have "freedom of religion" yet people have been expelled for praying in school, we're not allowed to use the name of Jesus in public prayers. We have "freedom of speech" yet if we speak up against gay rights, we are accused of "hate crimes".
God has blessed America and we're a great country but we're turning on God. What makes you think that he will continue to bless a country who has started to curse him? Without God's protection our country COULD fall. We could loose our freedoms to outside invaders. Or (more likely) we could give up our freedoms.

You would certainly be accused of bigotry, though no one would truly be able to silence you from a legal standpoint. The Phelps are living proof of this. God has blessed America and we're a great country but we're turning on God. What makes you think that he will continue to bless a country who has started to curse him? When has God ever even acknowledged America? It's not mentioned in the Bible. Without God's protection our country COULD fall. When has God ever protected anything? He let His own son get murdered, for fucks sake! I suppose you could count all those times He protected the Israelites when they were slaughtering everybody. We could loose our freedoms to outside invaders. Or (more likely) we could give up our freedoms. Oh no! Our freedoms are in danger? Outside invaders? I'd like to know what Opera Princess means by 'outside invaders', though I suspect it has something to do with Muslims. And I get the feeling that by 'freedoms', she means 'the freedom to prohibit other peoples freedoms'. Poor Christian majority, always being picked on and persecuted by the unbelievers.

Nobody has been expelled from a Public school for praying. The only thing it happens is that a school can't sanction prayer in the school, which is not the same. In that consist freedom of religion(or would you consider freedom of religion to be forced to pray looking at Mecca, just because you live in a muslim country?). Concerning the name of Jesus, what is forbidden is to proselytise, during workhours and class, not just mention it in your spare time. Concerning hate crimes, well, are you in favour of racism?, why do you discriminate a person just for doing something in their bedrooms that doesn't affect you at all?. And finally, God DOESN'T, I repeat, doesn't protect anybody. He has 6 thousand million people to care about and you're not particularly blessed. Stop being so ethnocentric.

IF (and that's a big if, I don't know though, as I'm not in the US) this true, then I will say I have to disagree with expelling students for praying. we're not allowed to use the name of Jesus in public prayers. By leading others in prayer, you transgress their freedom of religion. Pray in private, like Jesus said and no one will bother you, even God. You have "freedom of speech" yet if you speak up against the civil rights of african americans or jews, you are accused of "hate crimes". Yeah, so? There have always been limits on free speech. God has blessed America and we're a great country but we're turning on God. God has not blessed America, or even that one country within the two continents called America, the United States of America. It is a great country in terms of might and power and wealth but not in so many other ways. I certainly hope that you're turning against the God hypothesis, but I see little evidence of it. You can't be expelled for praying in school. You can certainly be disciplined for praying while you're supposed to be in class learning, but that's an attendance issue, not a religious one. Likewise, you can probably get in trouble for annoying other students with your proselytizing if they complain about it. Now if the teacher starts leading prayers, that's illegal, because the teacher is a government employee on government property. we're not allowed to use the name of Jesus in public prayers. If it involves government property or government employees, that would be "establishing religion" - i.e., giving preferential treatment to Christianity. We have "freedom of speech" yet if we speak up against gay rights, we are accused of "hate crimes". Well, you'll probably be called a bigot - after all, the rest of us have freedom of speech, too. But speaking up against gay rights isn't a crime. You can only be accused of a hate crime if you actually commit a crime, such as physically attacking someone. Freedom of speech doesn't include freedom of assault.

Your freedom ends where the next person's freedom begins.

Freedom doesn't always mean "I can do what I want". It also means I am solely responsible for everything I do or say.

And it means you have to accept that others have views that you don't like or agree with, and have every right to those views, as long as they're not infringing on others rights.

You are free to believe what you want, and voice those beliefs, but you cannot, in any circumstance, infringe on the rights of others, even if you don't agree with their beliefs/way of life. Why do your rights supersede those of a gay person's? They work and pay taxes in this country, probably more than you do.

Christianity is still the dominant force in this country, and will be for generations to come. As a non-christian, I've had my rights trampled on more than you can ever know. I've been bullied, harassed & berated by people I thought were my friends. I've had to keep my choice to leave the church a secret from my still practicing family members, who are allowed to openly practice and state their beliefs as loudly and often as they like. I have a gay brother, who is a wonderful person in every way, shape & form, and a cousin who is actively campaigning to practically have gays rounded up & put in camps. No wonder my family never gets together anymore.

I saw a supervisor drive a muslim coworker to quit, because he thought her headscarf violated the dress code (he was just a racist prick) but knew he couldn't officially fire her, so he just bullied her every day. She was one of the nicest, funniest people I ever met, too. We also had an Amish coworker, and a few people grumbled about her being allowed to dress according to her religion.

Yes, teachers will expell kids who bow their heads, and pray quietly to themselves. No, wait, it's the ones who insist on trying to get the whole class to pray, disrupting the lesson who get reprimanded. If a Muslim studen demanded the class halt for them, and pulled out a prayer rug, you would be baying for blood, so cut the persecution complex.

However, if anyone dares question your dogma, we are persecuting you, and by not kowtowing to you, we are apparently singling you out. Here's the thing. It's not disliking homosexuals that's bad. it's not even saying you dislike homosexuals that is bad. It's when you are actively trying to withhold and strip rights from us that is bad.

Dubya was a pretty big holy roller. Under his watch, not only the U.S., but most of the world was plunged into a recession not seen since the 30s. It's not God who makes a country prosper, but it's leader and citizens.

I call bullshit on people being expelled for a mere prayer in school. I have probably prayed in school, and I went to a secular school in Sweden.
Sorry, we did have a state religion at that time... That might explain it.

There must have been some aggravating circumstances, like the pupil in question disrupted the class, or tried to force his classmates to join in, or mocked someone who didn't pray.

Of course you should not use the name of Jesus in public prayers. He said himself, in that Word of God book, that prayers should be private; only hypocrites pray out loud.

If you want to infringe on other people's human rights, you have to be prepared for severe criticism.

America is not even mentioned in the Bible. You've only started to curse now? We've been cursing for thousands of years, and we have one of the world's highest standards of living.

Those Founding Fathers, who gave you many of those rights, were very careful to keep religion out of each and every state document.
Isn't it a bit embarasing that a Swede knows your Constitution and Ammendments better than you do, little princess?
