As a Christian and as a public servant
As a "public servant" you wold know that it is your duty to act in the best interest of all the public, not just those members of the publi that hapen to share your religious belief.
I have never wavered in my belief that this world and everything in it is a masterpiece created by the hands of God.
And you are entitled to have that belief til the day you die for all I care. What you are not entitled to do is to make others share that same belief by force of law or forced indoctrination.
As a member of the Alabama Board of Education, the record clearly shows that I fought to ensure the teaching of creationism in our school textbooks.
For starters, your fight is pointless as there is established legal precedent that teaching creationism is a violation of the establishment clause.
Further more, I'd bet that your stance on the subject is inherently hypocritical. I have no doubt that you and your creationist supporters would be up in arms and crying for blood if someone so much as suggested teaching the creation myths of religions that are not your own.
Those who attack me have distorted, twisted and misrepresented my comments and are spewing utter lies to the people of this state.
This is a would-be politician trying to use the far right fundamentalist's completely unwarranted persecution complex for his own personal gain and nothing more.
