Having recently enjoyed the wonderful, joy filled celebrations of Easter with fellow Christians, it is truly depressing and sad to return to the dreadful negativity put forward to deny God's existence on this forum.
Of course God's existence is an objective fact. For anything to exist at all, there has to be an ultimate source for any existence - and it is not in this material universe which itself came into existence from a source beyond our understanding.
What saddens me, and God I feel, is that humans are so capable of wilfully refuting any evidence for God by using their God given gifts of intelligence and free thought to concoct reasons not to believe. I feel the key to discover God will only be found if you truly want to search for Him. The Devil will always provide an abundance of reasons not to believe for those who do not wish to find God.

Oh? Care to offer some objective evidence?
For anything to exist at all, there has to be an ultimate source for any existence
OK, so what's the ultimate source for God?

Yeah, it's truly a shame that some people think for themselves, isn't it?
I feel the key to discover God will only be found if you truly want to search for Him.
So in other words, believe in God and you will believe in God.
The Devil will always provide an abundance of reasons not to believe for those who do not wish to find God.
The devil, or reality, however you want it. But seeing as how you think the devil is behind all reasons to not believe in God, that shows why you people constantly demonize science.
"Of course God's existence is an objective fact."
That'd be pretty interesting if you followed it with objective evidence, rather than presuppositionist speculation...
Feh.
No, Alan, god is a SUBJECTIVE fact. You see the world as a creation of god. But you don't really see the entity you call "god", and you can't show god to me and to others...because OBJECTIVE god doesn't exist. You can't hear him, smell him, touch him except in your own mind.
"I feel the key to discover God will only be found if you truly want to search for Him. "
But why would I want to go on that kind of snipe hunt? I find the real world, the world of objects and facts and science, to be wonderful enough to delight me through out my seven-decades-and-counting of life.
No, the fact that something exists says nothing about how it came into existence. We're probably just a temporary organic smudge on the chaos of the universe. But hey, that doesn't mean we shouldn't have fun.
So we Atheists celebrate not only Winter Solstice Festival, but Eostre: to help the Wiccans/Neo-Pagans take back what was stolen from them?
Good.
So Boudica was right after all, eh Al...?!
God's existence is an objective fact.
Right!
Now I have some bad news for all those who love God, i.e. the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Last night his divine holiness invited me over for a few drinks and while I was there I got hungry. A deep plate and little tomato sauce later, the rest is history.
Sorry folks, no more Flying Spaghetti Monster.
For anything to exist at all, there has to be an ultimate source for any existence
Bald assertion.
and it is not in this material universe which itself came into existence
Another bald assertion.
from a source beyond our understanding.
Translation: This "objective fact" is a complete mystery we can't understand but it's totes real.
Also, he was a Jewish guy.

Oh AB, as had been said times without number, there is NO evidence to verify the existence of your version of god, or any other. Yes one could exist, but if it remains in hiding then it must expect non believers to be sceptical, and if it punishes them for non belief it is evil!
To which Alan replies ...
And as I have said many times - you are the evidence.
Once again, Alan drops his earth shattering "objective" evidence for his invisible friend .

(we'll leave alone, for the moment, that Easter is just another Christian ripoff from yet another religion)
wilfully refuting any evidence for God
I'm from Missouri. Show me.
I feel the key to discover God will only be found if you truly want to search for Him.
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." W.S.
I enjoyed a wonderful, joy-filled celebration with fellow human beings, some Christians, some non-religious.
I'm an atheist, and I refrained from saying Happy Easter on Good Friday, for my mum's sake. She's a Christian and doesn't like it when people say HAPPY Easter on the day Jesus (supposedly) slowly died on the cross.
All gods have the exact same amount of evidence in their favor. Not one iota, that is.
For gods to exist at all there has to be an ultimate source too, then.
No, we fail to see any tangible, verifiable evidence for any gods.
So, you use your supposed God-given gifts of intelligence and free thought to be a sheep and join the choir bleating "goddidit"?
What a waste...
Of course Inanna's existence is an objective fact...What saddens me, and Inanna I feel, is that humans are so capable of wilfully refuting any evidence of the Queen of Heaven, by using their goddess given gifts of intelligence and free thought.
Still, I hope you enjoyed your Christian festival, which was originally devised in my Mistress' honour.
Again
First, before any arrogance, you have to provide ANY EVIDENCE for God or the Devil.
Nice to know you were "celebrating" a torturous death though. Shows how classy you are.
"For anything to exist at all, there has to be an ultimate source for any existence..."
So, the ultimate source is god? Because god exists, you must now show the ultimate source for your god's existence.
What? Your god has always existed? So there is something that can exist without requiring a cause? Why does that only apply to your god, and not the universe?
"...a source beyond our understanding."
If it's beyond our understanding, why do y'all keep claiming to understand it, instead of saying "we don't know"?
Know what the most successful Christian movie by far is? That's right, Passion of the Christ, Which is a little time showing how bad Jews are to the noble Romans n Jesus then torture and torturous death for most the movie. There's Christian Easter for ya, all the snuff fim joy and popcorn too, what a Good Friday indeed, never say Christians don't know how to have fun.
Now it would have made sense for Gibson, since he made a lot of Godly money on that, to make a sequel, of Jesus' return and the disciples beginning on the road to forming the churches. Ah but no, Gibson saw his market, so he made a movie about Mayan torturous death. Such a noble Christian.
Then someone else made Noah, but Noah wasn't happy about the annihilation of so much so Christians hated it. After all you supposed to CELEBRATE these horrors.
Confused?
